    Default 2004 Peavey amp catalog!

    I remember years ago....around 2003-04
Someone posted the 2004 peavey 5150 amps that were supposed to come out with a mini 5150 head and a 5150 II combo......does anyone still have that and can post it?
    Thanks!

I have it. I'll try to post it later today. Unless someone beats me to it.
VH III is Ed's solo album. So everybody who keeps saying they wish he'd do one needs to stfu and listen to III. Then stfu again.

if you watch the youtube video where "tone talk" Marc Huzanski and Dave Freidman interview James Brown (former tech from PV that worked on all the PV 5150 amps with Ed) he goes into a little detail on this little
mini 5150 head and cab..... great watch

    Default 2004 Peavey amp catalog!

I remember someone posting those on the forum back in 04! Wonder how it would have fared? It seems like mini heads didnít really take off in the market till about 5 years later.

I have 2 PV 5150 combos I run in my WDW rig and are powered through my 5150 III 50W head as the dry cab and I still think they sound amazing.

Still have and use my Peavey combo. I probably wouldn't have been interested in the II though unless I didn't already own the first one.

Only difference I see is the foot switchable crunch channel. Which is something I really wish the original had....

I have two 5150 heads and matching 4x12 cabs I play in stereo with the H9 H3000 settings and the Boss DD-500 with it's Roland SDE-3000 Delays like Ed's still uses. Ping pong. Pick an era. I've got it covered. And it sounds glorious!

I'll save you the trouble of listening to the James Brown Tone Talk. He says Ed wanted the 5150 to sound like his amp mic'd and EQ'd. What he heard in the control room basically is what he wanted the 5150 to sound like. So take that all 5150 haters who say it doesn't sound like Ed! I've always said my 5150 sounded like Ed. Mostly VH II and 90s stuff.

Watching that Tone Talk stopped me from buying the EL34 5150 III 50 watt head. The old Peavey is hard to beat! I still might buy one though.

To me, digital modeling is the mic'd and EQ'd sound. I've never heard a 5150 sound like that. I mean, the 5150 sound is huge, and I've never had that from a digital amp or device. But for recording direct the digital stuff is great.

You always have a knowledgeable take and real life playing experience approach to your posts. Very informative and appreciated! I always thought the Peavey 5150 amps sounded great, and have owned a few of them. Too many folks IMO 'dime' the gain and scoop the mids.

That's cool in and of itself, yet not the early VH sound we all love. Try dialing the gain to about 4 and having the midrange almost halfway. That'll get you closer. Also don't forget that Ed used the Low Gain input for recording, and only plugged into the High Gain jack for live playing...
