Yes I removed all of it. It was unnecessary.

Eddie van halen is a five tool player if you are familiar with the term.
I want to squeeze peoples heads into that say he is all solos and tapping.

He is absolutely a riff master of the highest degree. Great riffs create great rock songs. There is no one post 78 with riffs greater than EVH. Others have created great riffs for sure, but hes the king.

Ed's def a top riff guy, up there with Page, Perry, Iommi, etc.

Seems like in the 70's, 80's it really was the golden age of riffs.
Think of Aerosmith & VH, AC/DC, Nugent, Priest...
The riff set the tone straight away: Do i like this? Yes, i do.

Even one hit wonders like Aldo Nova with "Fantasy."
You have a smokin' riff, a hook, you are the king of radio.

    It changed at some point:

Aerosmith had a hit with Janie's got a gun, and it was more sound scapes.
VH started getting jangly with FUCK, though i think the intro & hook to Runaround
are great (but are they riffs?)
    Boston started crooning Amanda.
    Robert Plant discovered bluegrass....
Graver, Walking Ed, refugee from CVH & proud tone chaser...
