Default "Gravity" - Jedi McFly Original

My dog's been waking me up at 5:30am for the past 2 weeks. I've taken that time to get random crap done around the house, did that Wolfgang 5-way mod, and now I've dusted off an old demo and re-recorded it. The bulk of this tune was written in 2004 along with a lyric about Gravity, so here she is.

    Gravity.

And here's a link to two older demos if you missed them last time. "Altered Dream" and "Picky."

I tell you to quit showing off, and this is what you do?

Very cool! Kind of has a bit of a Blood and Fire/Ripley vibe to it. TBH I like this better than the Greta Van Fleet/Jacob Deraps stuff I've heard.

    Nice guitar tone!

Did you play all the instruments yourself?

Thanks! I plan on re-recording with my amp at some point, but this is just a clean Fender amp simulation in Logic with the MXR 5150 OD in front of it. Works really well for quick playing/recording. At this point it's what I play through the most because my real rig is always packed up for gigs.

I played all the guitars and bass and then I programmed the drums. There aren't any loops or smart drumming programs in there, I program each and every individual hit.

Really like gravity. Very Dweezilish to my ears so obviously a lot of VH. Would love to hear it with lyrics.... Great job man... Tone, phrasing, vibrato... song structure, production. The only thing I would do is maybe throw another rhythm track on there with a more scooped tone to fill it out sonically. Not sure how that program works, but if it's like the one we use, i'm sure you can just take the same tracks and EQ them differently and add them to the recording. You have a lot of talent man...

That was very cool! Listened to the whole thing. I loved the vibe, the playing, the way you did those open E & B string stabs with the chordal riffs, the octave melodies, and of course the solo stuff towards the end. Nice arpeggiated stuff in there at times.

Your playing really reminds me of a criminally underrated Canadian guitarist - Pete Lesperance, from the band Harem Scarem, off their Mood Swings album - and I say that as a compliment! He's probably my favorite rock player from here, and has been called "the Nuno Bettancourt of Canada" by some fans...

And as great as he is, he, like you, is a humble family guy. It doesn't get much better as players and humans. Great stuff, Jedi.

Cool. It sounded like someone was actually playing the drums as opposed to a program or a machine so that's why I asked.

As for the GVH and Deraps comment, what can I say? I thought that was much better than either of them and I think Deraps is a hell of a player. But as far as what I like to listen to and hear, yours was a cut above.

Now if you could just get a Robert Plant clone to sing on it...

Awesome! Just as I just claimed I can't stand open string chords dominating a song....you put this out and change my mind.

    Love those octave riffs.

You put in a nice bit of EVH type weirdness at 3:30. Thumbs way up!

Very inspiration man. I'm gonna finish up a song I've been working on (slowly) thanks to you and the other guys putting up cool performances. I needed that.

Thanks, dude! I've never really listened to any of Dweezil's music, so that's an interesting comparison. Any recommendations of Dweezil material to begin checking out?

    Score, that's the goal.
