Default BOBW released on this day in 2004 - Ultimate Classic Rock

    http://ultimateclassicrock.com/van-h...f-both-worlds/

“After all, over the course of Hagar’s original 1985-96 tenure, Van Halen not only notched four consecutive chart-topping albums, they also scored eight Top 40 hits — besting the Roth-led group in both categories. They also placed a whopping nine songs atop Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock chart along the way. Roth may have ultimately moved more albums, but the bulk of those sales happened long after he’d departed.”

THIS is why the Hagar era needs proper closure. 2004 was not it.
    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

Not counting Van Halen III, those three new songs from 2004 are among the absolute worst ever recorded by VH.

"The truth sounds like hate to those who hate the truth" - Todd Wagner

    Completely agree.

Although I like Learning To See.

VH died in 1996 as far as a creative entity as far as I’m concerned.

Learning To See actually starts off pretty promisingly, but then degenerates into a total hodgepodge of a mess.

    It’s like two different songs.

    I like the mellower parts.

I like the first 1:18, but then it just falls apart with that horrible chorus …

How lazy was Eddie by basically using a hybrid of the music from Why Can't This Be Love and Fire In The Hole during the opening?

Heard this one on Ozzy's Bone Yard yesterday.

Love the three seconds just after the 1:10 point. Then the song turns into a mish mash of bad ideas.

How lazy was Sam to write those God awful lyrics over Ed's laziness? Such lazy lazy days for them all.

In all honesty, those three songs never should have been released. Also, that 2004 never should have happened. I never purchased BOBW and I skipped the 2004 tour. I can understand why Sammy would like another shot with VH after those debacles.

Then they had to go and tack this monstrosity onto the end... where Spammy says "ASS against the record machine", instead of the proper and classic "BACK against the record machine"

What a dick! I've never gotten over that.

47, your sarcasm isn't lost on me.

I actually really liked Sammy in Van Halen. I just like Dave more.

Also, I've always loved Jump, but the lyrics aren't exactly brilliant. Dave had some misses, too.

And who could forget the ending to Finish What You Started on this "REMASTERED" CD. OMG! Who was driving the boat during THAT?

I skip that song every time because of that major fuck up.
