I couldn't care less about what kind of numbers it does, and I'd bet neither does he. Seems to be doing this because he wants to/because he can. Imagine that, a love of the game.

Of course if it's successful at all, icing on the cake.

Think he mentioned Tool as an influence. Should be a big VH influence. His head has always seemed in the right place. Seems to be a lot of different instruments in terms of variety of axes and such, what I'm most curious about is what he was doing with the SAITP synth trigger, haha.

Guardedly optimistic. What else is there to look forward to/talk about in VH land?

Wolf's album is a vanity project.
Really it's just him mucking around in the studio recording the sounds he wants to.
It's not going to sell a shitload outside of some of the VH and maybe Tremonti die-hards.

He probably won't tour it, but rather attach himself to another VH tour.
Maybe he'll take a solo spot during the show and perform one of his own songs then.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Yeah I guess recording a new album due out this Fall and throwing your own festival with Live Nation means he’s sitting around trying to join a dysfunctional part time band. LOL

Let’s not forget his radio show, TV show, philanthropy, Businesses, Cabo Wabo, Chickenfoot etc.

Such a tired narrative from the Roth Army.

VH are too miserable for Sammy and Mike.
    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

I think it's naive to think Wolf doesn't care if it sells or not.

You put four years into something, you are a musician, you want to
prove yourself & establish an identity...
Yes, you care if people buy it.

Tremonti was a success with Creed, but then re-established himself as a
    solo artist.

I think Wolf will model himself after that example.

Hopefully Wolf has some perspective on the current market. The sales aren't going to be there. He's worked hard to become a top flight musician, but lots of guys do that and will never have the success he is about to have.

You ain't wrong. I'm not much of a fan of Van Hagar at all, but Sammy seems like he's doing fine at life to me.

And seems like Van Halen fans are in a position to be pretty gracious about Sammy. The brothers actually choose to be in a band with Dave over Sammy. Eddie is the villain of the story really. Sammy gets to hang out with Mike....Dave gets to hang out with Eddie. Kinda sounds like Sammy is winning that one!

Sam has had an array of stuff he does. His happiness is not dependent on VH etc...
Also overlooked in the BOBW he keeps pushing is it is not because he is out and Dave is in. Sam proposed it back in 2002 that he wanted to do it again but with VH but he had it as each doing an hour. That somehow has morphed over time into a bitter thing cause Dave is in, history proves that is not the case so not a fair shot at Sam. (I still don't like the idea as it would be the worst "hits" of each guy and not enough time for the cuts that I think are better)

That said, Sam does deserve criticism for saying how much he wants to connect as friends but then airing everything publicly. That is Sam being Sam, he lives in the public and what you see is what you get. But bro, if you want to be a friend then do not try to force a severe introvert into a public space by airing communications. Its not like Sam doesn't know these guys are severely non-public. By going into detail and joking on podcasts etc... is a mistake. Respect the feelings of the person you are trying to friend and keep it non-public. Not respecting that is not helpful for his stated goal. He is smart enough to know that and does.

I didnt know that.... Now we know why he's mentioning VH members again in the press.

His festival is going to be huge (sic). Maybe he can get Pauly Shore and that dude who sung the Pina Colada song to appear too.

I still feel like part of it's ego:

The one thing he wants the most (a VH reunion to cap off his career), he cannot have.
He keeps trying, he can't let it go.
He can't stop himself from talking about it.

There's a degree of frustration there.

The more he's ignored, the more he craves it.
