I give Wolf a lot of credit in putting this record out, but if anything, I see it as his attempt to get from under his father's shadow. Where will he go from here?
If he wants to forge his own path, he has to tour it. Lots of touring. Clubs all over the country. Pretty much a working musician 300 days a year minimum. IF he's not gonna use Dad's dough as a fallback. Up to him, really. Touring a few gigs in SoCal isn't going to be enough to bust out his own brand.

He's got to put in the road time if he really wants it.

    LOL. Yes, he does.

You guys that somehow think he's gonna have a hit record without any hard work...are dreaming.

    1) i dont think he's gonna have a hit record
    2) i think he's more likely to go on tour opening for someone as opposed to playing "the clubs". It's not 1976 and he's rich and doesn't need to be discovered.

I doubt Wolf ever tours in support of his album. I'm not sure that was ever his intention. Then again, I have no idea of his true motivations or intentions. Wolf, like his Dad, is a story that wants to be partially told. Ed had to tell more of his story than he wanted because he was such a revolutionary force on guitar. Wolf doesn't have to tell and likely won't. I'm not convinced that Wolf made this album to get out from underneath his Dad's shadow. If anything, Wolf may want to just make his Dad proud. Children of alcoholics often go to great lengths to feel loved. It may also be a case of easing his Dad's pain. Pain that Ed likely feels for lost time in a fog of alcohol and for exposing his son to some craziness. Maybe making this album is a way to show his Dad that he gave him a great gift--talent--and he's grateful for it.

My prediction. He overengineered the shit out of it for years and it's gonna be a Creed/Avenged/Tool/AlterBridge knockoff and if he doesn't tour the hell out of it, nobody is gonna know it ever dropped at all. It'll be millennial nu-metal rock, which is kind of his thing. The only chance it has of breaking any ceilings is if that boy can sing lead. I hope that he can, he deserves a career outside of his father's shadow.
The music might lean that direction but his voice doesn't.
I'm thinking some of this is gonna sound more on the alternative side.

I think you hit the nail on the head, this is a personal project. I don’t think he has any interest in being some huge sensation, I think he wanted to make this fir all the reasons you listed and it have him something to work on. I doubt he’ll tour it, he’ll release it but much like his Dad, this project he’s done with on to the next thing
I don’t think he cares if it sells or not, this is for him and his Dad

That brief clip sounded good. Pretty kick ass drumming.

If it sucks he can always crawl back to Van Halen... and just play bass again.

    I'm hoping it's a STP/RAGE/QOTSA vibe...
Maybe 15 years ago. VH is just a blimp on the radar in 2018 and so I doubt there is that much pressure.

    Purple haze is spot on

The song sounds like a slowed down Sprit of he Radio but, hey, I like VH and Rush so I am in.

The trim Wolf hints at an upcoming tour-somebody is hitting the road

Completely agree on the sound of that clip. My money is on touring as an opener for someone. We should find out soon enough. Well, soon enough now that his 3 plus year project is complete...
