I'm the same way, the opposite of a hoarder.

Even before i dumped my CD's, i could not remember the last time i cracked open
a jewel case and inserted a CD into anything.
    Same with physical DVD's.
I can't remember the last time i sat down & watched a DVD.
I guess it wasn't as long ago as i may think, as i used to be a Redbox whore.

But i just hate the visual of cases of CD's or DVD's, gathering dust...
Feels like a 90's trip to me.

I will admit that the Vinyl collections still look cool, though.

I guess i'm just lazy too, where i just want convienence.

I cannot imagine why, when we all have iPhones & iPods.

Just hook it up in your car, and listen to whatever you want.

Do we really need to go back to a time where we lugged around
those case logic sleeves, and shuffled around the floors or backseat for that
    old AC/DC album?

Not really sure what happens when CDs become readily unavailable. Some might say I have enough already, but I have a list of ones I'd get if I could get them new, at a normal price (and not cut out). and there are more beyond that. I"m sure if streaming becomes the only way to enjoy music I'll have to get on board, I don't know. Prefer not to find out.
You should be able to find most anything "new" on Amazon.

I've already dun that. I have Spotify and Amazon.
Listening on the ipod or computer has it's times, but I have to rock the neighborhood, sometimes. Those formats just don't cut it.
No one is buying them, so, I think when we're all dead there will still be warehouses full of them.

When I'm sitting on the couch, it's just too easy to pull up a song I want to hear on You Tube. Getting up to take a CD out of it's case and load it into the CD player seems now like such a chore!

I still buy cds. I actually bought 4 two days ago and will be picking up the new GNR AFD cd sometime this week. I'm not into the downloading/streaming thing. I'm also not all that fussed if they stop making cds as I dont really listen to new bands anymore. I only listen to the "oldies" and not to many of them release shit these days, so I'm good.

I will be buying WVH's new cd when its released.

My standard weekend is hitting the two used CD shops near me, as well as either or both of the Guitar Centers and maybe Sam Ash, too. If everything goes online, what am I supposed to look at on the weekend? You have to get out of the house and see something. I go to the park sometimes, but I can only look at so many trees. Going to the mall lost its luster after they started only having boring clothes shops. Here in Atlanta, shopping is pretty much what we do in our free time.

There's no way I'd give up my CDs. It took me 31 years to accumulate all of this. I always wanted to be the old hippie guy with the big music collection, and now I'm here. I don't see them as clutter, I see them as a declaration of who I am. They're interior decoration.

The only thing is now I have a spindle of 100 blank CDs and 100 blank DVD-Rs that haven't even been opened, and some other half-full spindles. I used to LOVE getting a stack of blank CDs and jewel cases and going to town on DimeADozen.org. I've still got a pack of Maxell blank 120 minute cassettes that were never unwrapped, too! Guess I overbought.

But back to conspiracy theories and technology...just saw a Joe Rogan clip where they say Jeff Bezos has a $600 million contract with the CIA, and he's on a board at the Pentagon. I've had friends who've bought that Alexa crap, and they say they'll make a joke to their wife, and they hear Alexa giggle. But hey, it's the latest and coolest thing to have a droid maid like George Jetson that's reporting every time you jack off back to Homeland Security.

You don't think that is already being reported? Ha! Do you have a mobile phone? A TV? An iPad? Drive a car with GPS?

It is all already being collected, adding Alexa is just the cherry on top.

I got rid of all my CD's. No need for them. I have it all on my iPod and a separate hard drive, and then backed up to the cloud. I hate clutter.

Aha! I only got a smartphone in October of 2016. And I sorta regret it. I still have two flip phones I could always backstep to.

The car? 2002 model. No Lojack. OnStar, or GPS (except the one I plug into the cigarette lighter when I need to).

The TV? 2010 model. Just a TV, not a "smart" TV. And since I cancelled cable, I rarely watch it (except when I turn on the DVD player!), so it should last awhile.

I also have an actual camera (from 2009) that works great, no WiFi, and a 1080p camcorder from around 2011 that also has no WiFi.

No iPad, no Apple Watch. I worked at AT&T when the iPhone and iPad launched and saw what a debacle it was behind the scenes. I've read the stories of people finding their music collections, even their own original songs, being deleted at Apple's whim. I've still got my Creative Zen MP3 player and it works.

And I use headphones, not earbuds! Last weekend I saw some guy out in public, and it looked like he had straws sticking out of his ears. I thought maybe he had fluid in his ears and the doctor put those in there to drain them. Then I realized, "Oh...that's those cordless earbuds." That is SUCH a goofy look. Like when people walk around with the Bluetooth thing looking like they're taking orders from the Enterprise.

Distancing yourself from the latest technology and hanging back around 2011 completely works and is quite satisfying.

I make it easy for the intelligence agencies and just send them a weekly Excel spreadsheet of when I've jacked off and the URL of every Pornhub video.

I went real old school last night. Just for laughs, I hooked a RADIO up to the big blue tooth TV soundbar with rca jacks. I let the corporate DJ man pick the songs for about 30 minutes...lol...
