    Figured I'd do some WACF as it is a fan favorite. It's not as good as the one Coulda likes to post, but that guy is a badass! Not happy with the garbage solo, but it is what it is, when you play live whatever comes out is what the audience hears. Still had fun jamming this one, hope you like it!

    Always love your vids, Show, especially the little hop at the end. Lol, we'd have fun jamming for sure.

    I wouldn't worry about the solo, it's the spirit and energy that counts, as Ed almost never plays that solo the same night after night.

    Nicely done! I'll never forget seeing the US Festival for the first time, and marveling at how fast Eddie tappped those low E, 12th fret harmonics.

    Many years later, how he did the same thing on the G string, 7th fret bent up a whole step while rapidly tapping the 12th fret harmonic...

    Great job. You should try Pleasure Dome next.

    Thanks!

    You know, I get why Ed is such a stickler for not wanting to let out any live stuff because if a player of my caliber listens back to something and isn't happy with it, I can only imagine that any little thing for a guy like him is going to be a deal breaker.

    Still, like you said, the thing that drew me to rock music and particularly rock guitar was the spirit and energy, and not sitting there and trying to practice something over and over again to get it note for note like the studio recording. This isn't met to be a dig at those that do, for someone to have that patience, skill, and dedication is impressive to me and I just don't have the desire to or ability to do that. But I watch some guys and they're technically fantastic but they just sit there and play and that was never why I wanted to play guitar. TBH I usually move around more when I'm playing, but when I know I'm recording I feel kind of like a goof doing it in my basement - but I really enjoy playing and try to just go with the feel - maybe I need to figure out a way to forget I'm recording and the vids would probably be a bit more entertaining. The little hop at the end was kind of at that point. Then I watched it back and kind of chuckled.

    Yeah, I've always loved that intro to the US Fest. It's so fucking rowdy.

    Would you believe that the III tour was actually what inspired me to learn this one? I liked the tune, but then they busted it out on one of the III shows I saw and I was like, "Damn, I've got to learn that one."

    Go to 37:04. Pretty badass.

    I've actually been working on the PD intro. I've found as I've gotten older my patience to learn new pieces has gotten less as I think I ought to be able to just play them flawlessly within minutes because I've been playing for almost 30 years. SO I get frustrated and end up playing the same shit I already know! LOL!

    That's pretty cool! And not surprising about the inspiration, as Eddie was killing it on the III tour, and fans heard gems that hadn't been played in ages.

    I've told this story before, regarding Pleasure Dome;
    My gigging days ended in the mid to late 90's when grunge was still on plenty of people's minds. We were doing 60's-90's covers and originals. I ended up at a singer's apartment and he was a huge top 40 guy - grunge - yet had a wicked and melodic voice. After a few cold ones, I picked up his acoustic (which to this day I still don't own) and played the PD intro, or at least attempted to...

    He thought it was an original and wanted to write a song around it, saying "That's a beautiful piece of music..." I was humbled of course and surprised that a guy who was very talented in his own right, yet into totally different stuff than I was, would say that about an Eddie Van Halen composition.

    You should post yours when you feel up to it, man. I'd love to hear it!

    Once you slowly stop doing that, over time (and it won't be long) you'll actually be able to begin play those pieces and possibly sound the way you've always wanted to hear yourself sound. Try it. You might be surprised one day when you can suddenly play one of those passes a lot smoother and cleaner then you ever have.

    Nicely done! This was my favorite VH for a million years until As Is. I once stopped working with a drummer because he couldn't do the live version of breakdown. The intro still gets me every time. Most of all, you're obviously having fun playing it which is the whole point!!!
