The Ultra Violence is a thrash masterpiece, and ACT III was a huge expansion on their sound.
    I worshipped that tape!

This was an unlikely smash hit album when I was a junior in high school ...

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"Political correctness is fascism pretending to be manners" - George Carlin

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

Man, i always thought the guy was looking out the window, nervously, due to
the illicit affair about to happen.

I never realized, until just now, he was simply putting on a record.
The album title makes even more sense!

And i always thought Foreigner's "Head Games" was a rape scene about to happen, which
    i thought was pushing it...

But it's really just a woman covering up her name/number on a stall.

Of the 7 bands that played on "Heavy Metal" day at the US Festival in 1983, 4 of them released arguably their most popular albums when I was in high school and 2 of the other 3 released them the year after I graduated:

Quiet Riot (Metal Health) - released on 3/11/83, roughly 2-1/2 months before the US Festival
Motley Crue (Shout At The Devil) - released on 9/26/83, roughly 4 months after the US Festival
Ozzy Osbourne (Diary Of A Madman) - released in 1981
Judas Priest (Screaming For Vengeance) - released in 1982
Triumph (Allied Forces) - released in 1981
Scorpions (Blackout) - released in 1982
Van Halen (VH and 1984) - released in 1978 and 1984
"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"Political correctness is fascism pretending to be manners" - George Carlin

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

    That's not bad.
I went back and skimmed them. Man, they had a lot of radio tunes from that record.
The one I thinking was Follow my head. Hadn't heard it since the 80's probably.

    Graduated in 1988...

    Van Halen - 1984
    Van Halen - 5150
    Def Leppard - Hysteria
    GNR - Appetite
    George Thorogood - Maverick

Everyone liked: Cars - Heartbeat City and U2 - Joshua Tree.

I also listened to a lot of Def Leppard - Pyromania and John Mellencamp Uh-Huh, but that was a little before high school.
Better use it up before it gets old!

Forgot about Heartbeat City, yeah, that got a lot of play.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Let me start by saying that CVH did not break the national scene until 2 years after I graduated HS in 1976.

Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy
    Ted Nugent Free For All
    David Bowie Changes One
    Montrose Paper Money
    Lynyrd Skynrd Lynyrd Skynrd
EVH 1979: Well, actually it's not much of a vacation, because we run everything ourselves. We design our own album cover, we have to be in the office every day to sign checks - the whole corporation revolves around us. Nothing can be done without our approval. We even have photo approval.
