Soooo hard to only pick four, when they have two great eras and an interesting sidestep wrinkle to choose from.

    1) - Panama.
The way that intro slams, the guitar tone (clean yet dirty), the riffs, the solo which is blues on steroids with some killer modern-esque stuff thrown in, those harmonics and variations before the choruses, the breakdown.... It doesn't get any better IMO.

    2) - ATBL.
That intro riff still seems futuristic and otherworldly. The tone of the guitar, the effects Ed used at the perfect times, and the variations between the verse arpeggios and the actual full strummed chords during the choruses. Those two solos are also simple yet heavy. Nice outro.

    3) - Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do).
There nothing 'grunge' about this tune, despite some reading waaaay to much into a Sammy remark that the lyrics are about some suicidal heroin junkie. The riff is neat, the verse arpeggios sound wicked, the production is amazing... And the half time solo is beyond cool! Kind of like how some comment on the half time Cathedral delay stuff VH do during 5150 from the iconic LWAN concert. The outro is also amazing IMO.

    4) - Mine All Mine/Pleasure Dome - tied.
Both show intelligence and growth, both have structures that surpass the typical keg party mentality, both are arranged very well, and both have excellent EVH solos!
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - A very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

I'm The One. The quintessential Van Halen song. Everything that makes Van Halen great is in that song, virtuoso guitar playing, high harmonies, grooving rhythm section, and the campy we don't take ourselves to seriously barbershop quartet.

Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love. Arguably the greatest electric guitar riff of all time. Hey Hey Hey! 'Nuff said.

Feel Your Love Tonight. Awesome groove. Possibly Ed's best guitar solo on tape.

Hot For Teacher. Dave being Dave. The Van Halen band being the Van Halen band.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.
