In fact, gimme II over the debut, any day.

The Linda Ronstadt version was a great song to begin with.
Always loved it, when my mom played it on her album.

    VH's version was stellar.
That intro, those piercing diads or whatever they're called.
    That solo, my GOD!
First time i ever heard palm harmonics.

LOVE Dave's voice on that one, too & Mike's moaning Bass solo.

YNG every day of the week over ICM.
I love VH II, but the debut was, is and will always be the ultimate Van Halen album.

For me, the holy trinity is: II, WACF, FW.

VHII is the record where Diamond Dave was born.

Wolf, from Accept, was saying: Van Halen had that amazing debut, but
on the second album, you could tell they were scrambling to write tunes...

    Now i love ACCEPT, but...

VHII is a stone cold classic.
There's not a bad song on it.

There's not a bad song on the first 4 albums, but the debut has 11 great songs, which is more than II (10), WACF (9) and FW (9).

The debut is an atomic bomb, possibly the greatest debut album of all time.

But II was my "Holy shit, this band is awesome moment."

    I remember it distinctly:
Got it from Brother's GF's sister, when we visited them on a Saturday night.
Played it Sunday morning, had the parent's stereo to myself.

I already had WACF in my possession, but still hadn't quite grasped it (i would soon after).
But II resonated with me instantly, i played it in sequence & loved every damn song.

A few years later, after i had become the seasoned VH disciple, i still gravitated towards
    II over the debut.

    I just always did.
Just thought the second album was so cool.

I have a certain affinity for every VH studio album, except for III.

    VHII is awesome!
I loved it in 1979. It was so different from the first one. I loved the different sound, too.

Back then, I woulda said VHI. Cuz it was newer, hadn't been played to death.
But as the years went on, into the 90's, I raised VHII above One.

Like Jape, over time, II, WACF and FW became my top three.
