Teachers don’t always have great care. I’m at a charter school, non union. The insurance we get through my wife’s employer where we pay a $550 monthly premium would’ve cost us $2,700 a month through my work. Most of my coworkers choose Kaiser, which is great in many areas of SoCal, but not ours. They’re willing to travel 45 minutes for any doctor visit, including emergencies. We aren’t. But it’s free in my district. No clue how good the prescription coverage is.

Teachers and school employees in my towns school district used to have 250-500 deductible no payroll deduction before ACA. Its something now like 2000 for individual and lots more for family and they take money from their pay checks. However, the district funded their HSAs for 2 years when the switch happened. Many retired and the maintenance department was devastated since most of those people only get 10-11 bucks an hour and only worked there for the great benefits prior to ACA. School taxes have soared too I guess from the HSA funding by the district.

Some very sad and scary situations taking place in Southern Ontario. Children dying..a 12 year old and 7 year old over the past couple of weeks. Both went to the same school...

This one was a 10 year old in the town that is 5 minutes from my house. So sad.

Teachers get the short end of the stick. If you pretend to be another person, toss a ball at a basket or run with one you can be a millionaire. If your profession is the least bit noble, you're screwed.

It just depends. You can make 6-figures as a public school teacher and show movies all day. I’ve seen it. Can’t be fired.

Sounds like my sons high school.

What did you do today in AP History? "Watched National Treasure".

    Oh, great.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

In high school, I had a history teacher who was also the varsity football coach. In class, we watched movies 2-3 times a week. Everyone called him Coach Movies.

    Oh, great.
I watched a movie a week in US history. 2.5 days of lecture, 2.5 days of a movie. And the lesson plans were so old we had to redraw maps on our own during lessons about some of the wars.

One of the most popular teachers ever in my area did a unit on John Glenn. It culminated in all students getting together to watch his launch. Instead he put in the Challenger launch and had all his students thinking John Glenn had died. Crying, emotionally devastated kids who didn’t know until they got home or the next day.

I know a guy today who owns a business and just assigns busy work and works at his desk in his private business.

I could go on and on. All making at least $80k, most near 6-figures or the dollar equivalent in the past.
