Wruff, I figured you'd be interested in this one:

If he's talking about the Faith, Bishop Barron can't be beat in my mind but when it comes to social justice issues, he can be hit or miss so i was very interested in what he would say about the professor.

My favorite interviewer is Dave Rubin. Probably helps that he is Libertarian like me...but he always seems to reasonable with his guests. He tends to bring out the best in them.

    Here he is with Peterson:

I vehemently couldn't stand Hitchens on religion. That aside...I could literally listen to him talk all day. He was so fascinating to me and I hope that despite his views...he made it to the pearly gates because he was one of a kind. That was a person you would want on your side.

Thanks, BW. Barron's critique of Jordan is pretty spot on. Most interesting for me in his analysis of Peterson is from 8:45 on where Barron's observations on Peterson's take on Christianity are similar to my own thoughts on Peterson when I watch him speak on Christianity, and specifically on Christ as archetype and ideal. Peterson recognizes the fundamental necessity in culture and society for archetypes as ideal models to guide civilization throughout history and into the future, with the Christ/Logos being the embodiment/highest form of that, though always bracketed by Peterson in very symbolic terms.

Peterson is missing the most important aspect of the Christ archetype, and that is that Jesus Christ is very real, more than historical, divine, and the literal embodiment the truly highest form of archetype which is the Almighty GOD himself. Christ IS that LOGOS that Peterson is always talking about.

I've heard Peterson's responses when he's been asked about this, and his responses amount to someone who embraces the idea of Jesus Christ, and doesn't doubt the existence of a historical Jesus, though stumbles coming to terms with the supernatural or truly divine nature of Christ.

Peterson has a genuine appreciation for Christianity and it's essential role in forming Western civilization into the most advanced and civilized civilization on earth,,,, but he's not been able to reason himself into taking that leap of faith that is required of any Christian.

Example. Asked if he believes that Jesus rose from the dead then Peterson will reply in symbolic and figurative terms of "order rising up out of the chaos", etc.., keeping himself safe from accepting or denying that it actually did or did not happen. And he is straight forward about that, that he is still working all of that out.

Peterson's a thinker who is admittedly still discovering a great deal about Christianity, and so it is going to take some time, and eventually also that reasonable leap of faith after much discernment on the matter.
I'm curious to see how that plays out for JP in the years ahead.

I've watched youtube vid after youtube vid of this guy's motivational lectures, and i come
away completely destroyed, because he's basically saying to me: Whatever you do, don't
    become you!

Everything he says not to do, i've already done for years:
    Don't be agreeable.
Be the alpha male, be dangerous.
    Eat right.
    Don't be a boy, be a man.

I'm surprised he hasn't listed: Do not masturbate to online porn, if you're in your 40's.
Stop pretending it's 1981 and think people care about your arrested developmental taste
    in music.
    You're 46? It's too late!

He's talking about guys hitting 30 and being losers for not figuring shit out, yet.
Here i am, in my 40's....

Intelligent, articulate guy, but soul destroying stuff.

When he spoke about agreeable people being weak, my brain flashed back to three years ago,
when this male manager subbed in our store & said to me:

You're agreeable, but do you even hear me?

The guy did not like me.
I've always fared well with female managers, never male.

I was so glad when my regular boss returned from her medical leave.

I like they guy and a lot of what he says rings true but I do wonder how much of what he says applies to his own life? These guys are great at telling other people what to do and giving advice but my experience is that they don't have it figured out as much as they like you to think, either.

i don't think he's of the belief that agreeable people are weak. When he talks about topic, it's typically when he's talking about pay equity. Agreeable people are unlikely the type who are going to lead companies because it's not in their personality to fight for sorts of jobs.

    Business is a blood sport.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

It is. And the costs are immense. I remember just after our girls were born basically coming to grips that the upward trajectory of my career was gonna stop. I went from making 40k a year when we got married to 85k or so 5 years later but noticed every person above me (my boss and the 3 levels above him) were divorced and pretty miserable. I wasn't gonna risk that would be me in the future

Yeah, he's so articulate & intelligent, yet i can imagine it would get annoying being in a relationship
    with this guy.
He seems a bit disconnected, in a sense.
He thrives on debate and has an encyclopedic knowledge of every topic, locked in his brain.
I picture him politely correcting people a lot.
