Yep. Mike is great and he's a friend. I'm proud to say he's a friend-who happens to be an excellent player who also happens to share a passion for learning as much about Eddie's playing as possible. Mike and I learn from each other, just as I learn from others and just as I like to share what I've learned here. And on this particular occasion, I really wanted to share a clip by a friend that I think is EXCELLENT.

I don't play guitar, but I've listened to "Eruption" more times than I can count. If you just played me the audio of that version, I would think it's the version from VH I, until that final fade out. That part did sound a little bit different.
    Excellent job by this guy.

If I just heard the audio and somebody said it was Ed at 5150. I'd probably believe them.

There are some things that Mike deliberately did differently than Ed did on the original Sunset Sound recording so that people wouldn't accuse him of just using an unknown recording of Eddie himself.

One such thing is that Mike did NOT use an MXR Phase 90 and no other phase shifter on his tribute...Eddie turned on his MXR Phase 90 right as he struck the G power chord in the A-G-D power chord sequence and then left it on for the remainder of the recording.

I didn't catch it myself at first...Mike had to tell me that he didn't use a phase shifter!

That's a really cool piece of info, that even though you shared before, some tend to forget or overlook... I did as well!

The Phase 90 clicks on at the G chord and not for the entire instrumental, as many (and I) have often thought.

garbeaj, this right here^^^, is an EXCELLENT post.
Not one single negative conjuncture. Nice job brother!

Please tell Mike he plays very well, and many of us appreciate his talent.
And I think many of us, or at least myself, appreciate your humble input, and your talents, as well.
