Oh yeah, I know the quality of the EBMM was excellent. But, just talking from purely an aesthetic point of view, it's the least appealing to my eyes of all his guitars over the years.

Yes Judgment Day and Dream Is Over sound awesome, not vintage, but awesome. You have to remember, I'm comparing Ed's myriad of tones to himself. Just because the FUCK tone is not one of my favorites of HIS, doesn't mean I don't like it. It's still better than most other people's tones. Of course some people think I don't like the Sam era, I guess because I actually want Dave to remain the singer and certainly don't want some dumbass "dual singer" fiasco. Stupid is as stupid does.
I was listening to JD (the song, not you) in the truck today and the A chord in terms into that he hangs on is just monstrous tone. That's what I meant by vintage, not necessarily VHI tone but a sound you'd expect from Ed.

That song was the last one recorded on the 5150 Kramer so if there's a difference in tone from OU812 it's because of the amp or recording techniques.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Didn't he record quite a bit of FUCK with a Soldano IIRC?

Yep. The 5150 was still in production at that point. I think he had a couple of prototypes that he was using but I'm not sure what actually made it to record.

I'll tell ya what, Show, I LOVE the tone Ed got for the Pleasure Dome intro. I see a fair bit of hate for that song, but that is my 2nd favorite tune off FUCK, behind Dream Is Over, and it's my favorite drum track of Al's from the Sam era. It also has possibly my second favorite solo of Ed's from the Sam era after the AWESOME Feelin solo.

That intro is beautiful. It is a cool tune with a lot of Ed and Al goodness.

I liked how they did it on the tour playing the first verse and chorus instrumentally and then leading into Al's solo.

It was a cool intro to Al's drum solo, but I would've preferred to hear the whole song live instead of In N Out or Spanked or Man On A Mission.

Part of the reason I loved that video that surfaced a while back (Eddie with a III followup tune, playing a Tele, backstage jam on the EBMM etc.) was seeing his solo from 91-93 where he did the Pleasure Dome intro.

    Loved it!
I remember playing it on an acoustic for an old singer buddy who hadn't heard the tune before. I didn't say who it was, just played it for him and he asked if it was an original riff because "That's an excellent piece of music..."
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora
