You couldn’t be more right. I didn’t realize just how bad it was until going right from OU812 to Balance on a long drive. I was shocked how thin the sound is compared to Balance.

It is a shame, but OU812 is still a superior album to Balance. It remains my favorite album of the Sam era, some really great tunes on there.

The best three songs from OU812 ...

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you"

"Be careful what you wish for because you just might lose what you already have"

I have had the first 6 so heavily in my rotation the last several years I forgot just how good OU812 is. It’s probably been 10 years since I listened to the entire album.

I would go with Sucker, AFU, and Black and Blue as the three best. Sucker sounds like a classic track, I'm always amused at how much hate that song gets, even from the Sam crowd.

OU812 is one of the most diverse VH albums, definitely the album to go to when looking for something a little different.

Sucker sounds like Panama while Source sounds like I'm The One and Hot For Teacher. Source wins.

Dragged down by Sam's either complete lack of effort, or complete lack of any idea how to sing over a VH double time boogie.

Sucker is a top 5 Sam era tune for me. Love the intro, how huge Al's toms sound, the "stupid" tongue in cheek lyrics are perfect for the vibe, the chorus is infectious, the solo and post solo jam by Ed and Al is a classic Brothers moment, and the outro would've been the perfect way to end the album.

OU812 and 5150 are both very much in need of a remaster.
It's ridiculous they haven't been touched, when the first 6 albums have been remastered twice...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Here is my EQ change for my favorite song on the CD. I have the Forever Young version to start, then it quickly fades to what i did. Now i know everyone's ears are different, but to me, in the car or good speakers this whole cd now sounds astounding. Loudness and lowend.
Don't play this on your cell phone or laptop speakers and say it sounds like shit hahahaha.

Just gave that a listen. Sounds fantastic!
One of the gems from the Sammy era, and the first VH song I ever saw live in concert.

    Thanks for sharing.

That's odd. I still have it in my system. Try this version that I uploaded using the program recommended by VHFAN_ALL3:

Thanks for the recommendation! I was having issues with the other program I was using...this was so much easier!
