My exact thought. I wonder if that reviewer moonlighted as a video producer for rock bands....cutting away from the guitar player during the solos to show the singer preening or the bass player of course.

The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

I was young, super-alive, and loving some VH, when FW came out. I lived in Milwaukee at the time, and I really remember the radio stations playing "So This Is Love?" more than any of the other tracks! Great song, but not the best (to me) off of FW.

I still have my original FW vinyl which was super-thick, and probably un-scratched to this day, lol. The thing screamed quality, as it sounded better, richer than my other albums on my '80s turntables.

Back to the topic - 1981 was an amazing year for music, and maybe not the best year for VH to release a less-than-commercial album?!

As a life-long rebel, and a lover of the way VH did things their own way, I would like to say that it's my favorite album! Probably still is, but it's quite impossible to choose between the first albums. All we craved was that the next EPIC album would come out the next week, month, or 6 months after the previous MASTERPIECE!!!

Ugh, lol, what a great, but frustrating, problem to have as a VH fan in the '80s!

Were you in Milwaukee in 1980?...and did you go to the April VH concert?
