Weinstein probably thinks if Mel Gibson could be forgiven by Hollywood douches, so can he.

It's pretty funny how all these hypocrites are virtually stumbling over each other to condemn Harvey to the point the Academy is going to have a meeting to discuss throwing him out. Yet, this was such an open "secret" for years that Seth MacFarlane openly mocked him at the 2013 Oscars:

Mel Gibson said some "mean things". This is something different.

Yeah, but in the entertainment industry, it's not the magnitude of the incident, but appearances. If there is the slightest bit of public outrage, you always see these people circle the wagons and ostracize the offender. If there is little or no public outcry, it's business as usual. More often then not, it's rehab, phony contrition, a few years out of the spotlight and everything's forgiven. I mean, this is an industry that continues to embrace a guy like Roman Polanski.

    Agreed.

And I want to note that Mel's shit shouldn't just be forgotten. I might admire his work sometimes, but I can't call myself a fan of his now.

    Hollywood is dismantled.

All of this stuff is being exhumed, and careers are gonna be seriously tainted.
Even Meryl Streep sounds like she's lying, when she says: I guess i just should
    have looked harder...."

    Everyone knew.
MacFarlane is making jokes about it, because he knows everyone will GET the joke.

This is exactly what an superficial and elitist culture looks like. This stuff is why you don't look to celebs and famous people for guidance or answers when it relates to real world issues. Despite all of this, the left will still admire hoodlums like Eminem and the Hollywood idiots.

I assume in about 10 years they will create an award on the Oscars for Weinstein. I mean think about it. The left worships Ted Kennedy who let a woman drown in his car. They worship Roman Polanski who roofied a teenager and took her to brown town. He probably will go to his sexual rehab, make an appearance and be given a standing ovation somewhere.

people are surprised by this? Guys like this look the movie business the same way pedophiles look at church basements. The land of opportunity.

This guy was awful....really a monster and I find it impossible to believe that people did not understand the true nature of what went on here .......except.........no woman really likes to talk about this. She may tell one person or two and probably downplays it out of fear of being blackballed or embarrassment or even feeling partly responsible....it's a common response.

but they need to deal with THIS monster and not go on a tear where every man is put under a microscope or they are going to do some un doable damage

Right now every monster in Hollywood is wondering who is going to spill the beans on him (or her) and every poor schmuck who made an awkward drunken pass or got inappropriately handsy on a film set or overly enthusiastically pursued a romantic interest is wondering what film is going to come up on him. ( In that respect is does kind of suck to be a man these days) There's a big difference between someone being flirty or even aggressively so and someone who takes advantage of his position and puts professional or social pressure on women (or men) in order to gain sexual favors.

The Kimmel film is an example as is the Canadian film of Affleck. Anne Marie Losique has been all over the media explaining that there were numerous interviews with Affleck like that and they were friendly. That was their thing they did and the French Canadians understood it and its humor. She has made it plainly clear that she was not just a willing participant but that she was the one who initially instigated it.

now the Casey Affleck issue...I don't know. and I don't think we'll ever know the full truth because women keep taking money to shut up. I know they have fears of being blackballed in their industry and THAT is a huge problem that this industry after a hundred years of abuse towards women, has to come to grips with

The casting couch has been a staple of Hollywood since silent film days and while there are women who have been historically more than happy to use what their mama's gave them to get ahead, no woman should be forced to work in those conditions

So much has been made of women needing to get roles and women needing to be directors and executives and leveling the playing field that way, buy honestly, none of that would stop a monster like this

What needs to happen is the law needs to be applied and molesters and rapists and harassers need to be prosecuted no matter how many billions they make the industry

and don't even get me started on why the hell anyone would want their child working in this industry.

survivor of the Bowling Green Massacre 9-3-2016 BGSU 10 OSU 77

She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.

Ted Kennedy immediately stated that what he did was inexcusable, and never said anything different, and it never happened again. Then, after the William Kennedy Smith trial, he addressed his problems and turned his life around, becoming one of the most respected and necessary members of the Senate.

Remember, Obama and Eric Holder launched the most vigorous pursuit of Polanski since his initial fleeing to Europe. They wanted to nail him to the wall, and it looked like they were going to have him extradited for a long time. And now, with Europe's sex crimes laws now being strengthened and new allegations coming to light, there is a chance they might pursue him, though it is clear he will never face trial in America. Simply put, since his misbehavior now extends beyond the one case, there is simply no defense of him anymore.

Weinstein will not be lionized or rehabilitated the way Mel Gibson twice in a row managed to do. There is no coming back from this, especially since his own brother fired him from their own company, and hired an independent law firm to investigate. But isn't it funny that Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Newt Gingrich and David Vitter get forgiveness from their party and god knows how many chances?
