Default The government knows! - KNOWER

I got turned onto this by a guy who's musical opinion I really respect. Move over "The Rain Song," this might be my new favorite song of all time, because the lyrics are TRUE!

    The band is called KNOWER.

(For some reason the video thumbnail doesn't show, but the link works.)

    The Govt. Knows

    Looking straight through your webcam
Looking at you is Uncle Sam
Look him in the eyes with your balls in your hand
and stick it to the fucking man

Just in case you think they're all techno - wrong! Originally it was a duo of just the guy and girl, but now they've turned into a full band. And can these guys PLAY!

Nobody seemed to join me in being excited about this band, not only here, but also on my Facebook. But I think in 10 years you'll all regret missing out on Tito Puente! I mean Knower!

Got my ticket to see them next month! I'M HAPPY!

Louis Cole is unreal on the drums.
One of the coolest musicians I've seen lately...

What I love in that club video of "Overtime" is that not only does he start throwing different time signatures at the keyboard player during his solo, but that the audience is also savvy enough to know and appreciate what's going on. No one's saying, "Did he forget how the song goes? Is he messing up?" And the whole band laughs and gets off on it.

The more I watch their videos, the more convinced I become this Genevieve Artadi is the best front person I've seen in a long time. Unlike the singers of the middle aged cover bands I've mostly been exposed to over the past few years, she sings the lyric like she's really living it in the moment, and looks the audience in the eye, and then when the band starts jamming she loses herself in the music in a non-self conscious way. It's tough to find people who can carry a tune and do that.

I am SO glad I went to see Knower last night. I can't believe I'm more excited after the show than I was before. The opening act was a duo called Edit Bunker (a play on "Edith Bunker"). Absoultely astounding drums from both bands. It felt like a real page was turned in my musical awareness, and I feel like the same was true for a lot of people in the audience.

Not very classic rock/Van Halen-like, but this was the opening act. Drummers (Jungle Drummer) take note!
