    Default September 11th

Today marks the 16th anniversary of the deadliest attack on American soil. Take a minute out of your day today to remember those who died that fateful day and to loathe the bastards that did it.

    God bless the USA.

16 years ago, our world changed forever.
    Still seems like yesterday.

Thoughts and prayers to the families and friends who lost loved ones.

I honestly take a bit of comfort thinking about how many of those filthy animals we've snuffed out since then. If that comes across as heartless then so be it - the playing field is a lot different from when we were growing up...

I'm going to re-post this from yesterday in another thread:

Saudi government allegedly funded a 9/11 Dry Run

Fresh evidence submitted in a major 9/11 lawsuit moving forward against the Saudi Arabian government reveals its embassy in Washington may have funded a “dry run” for the hijackings carried out by two Saudi employees, further reinforcing the claim employees and agents of the kingdom directed and aided the 9/11 hijackers and plotters.

Two years before the airliner attacks, the Saudi Embassy paid for two Saudi nationals, living undercover in the US as students, to fly from Phoenix to Washington “in a dry run for the 9/11 attacks,” alleges the amended complaint filed on behalf of the families of some 1,400 victims who died in the terrorist attacks 16 years ago.

The court filing provides new details that paint “a pattern of both financial and operational support” for the 9/11 conspiracy from official Saudi sources, lawyers for the plaintiffs say. In fact, the Saudi government may have been involved in underwriting the attacks from the earliest stages — including testing cockpit security.

I'm not old enough to really remember that day. I just know when I was a little kid, I'd hear stuff about some "9/11" on the news, family gatherings, etc. Being the history oriented person I am, I have done as much research on that awful day as I can. To those who were lost, or lost someone, God bless you all.

For anybody who's looking for a good documentary, check out 9/11: fifteen years later. It's a CNN doc and I know it's on Hulu at the moment. It follows two brothers who are filming a documentary on a probationary firefighter who is stationed at a house near the trade center. They end up being one of the first stations on scene that day. It's a completely different perspective as the cameraman is recording everything from the command post of tower 1, even during the collapse. I'd say it's probably the best footage out there from the firefighting perspective.

    Strongly recommend.

8:45am...first plane hits the north tower. Bizarre to think that many people on the west coast were still sleeping and woke up to this unbelievable event. I will never forget that day. Never.

It's easy to forget that there's a large number of people alive now that don't really remember what it was like before 9/11. That feeling of invincibility we had as a country following the Cold War was shattered in an instant and now we all live with the reality that something terrible could happen anytime on a massive scale.

It's like the national equivalent to the feeling people have after their home gets robbed. You can't believe someone broke into your safest space and it makes it hard to get comfortable again.

Unfortunately we just caught up to the rest of the world in that sense.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.
