Yeah, come on, jape. If you can list two songs from VH III, you can come up with at least two from Balance. Go check out Amsterdam and Aftershock. Good tunes.

At first when I read this I was like WTF?

But after I played them both in my head I think you're on to something.

LOC is just sped up like 100X.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Well Balance is the most un-Van Halen album from their glory years.

    I did, very recently.

Nothing on it turned me on.
    I really, really tried.

I did buy the album at Tower back when it came out, and i played it maybe twice.
I had hoped i could listen with fresh ears and maybe enjoy it in recent times.

OU812 has grown on me, though.

Balance had a different feel, for sure. We learned that there was turmoil in the band during the recording, so that accounts for some of the dark ambiance on the record. I also feel like the band was responding to what was going on in the world around them. And, I feel like it was a response to the Grunge era. It also signaled to me that Van Halen had dimensions that we had never seen or heard. Heck, I just loved the album.

When are we having the "I Coulda Hada VH's worst list...list"?
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
