Lol, I can't remember all the players that were involved in slagging Jape over that originally, but we can probably make a few guesses.

I totally get why so much of the hardcore fan base is completely sick of Jump. It's a shame that it will probably always be VH's most well-known song. On the other hand, I think it's an extremely well-crafted, catchy and melodic tune with outstanding guitar and keyboard solos from EVH.

Maybe one of the anti-love songs aka Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love or Outta Love Again.

You nailed it for me JD. The dark raw sound of GGB is why I didn't givev it the respect I now have for it. I was a teenager when 84 dropped and my musical tastes were literally shifting from Journey to bands like Y&T, Rush, AC/DC and of Course VH. Took a little maturing to understand what a great song GGB is. I heard it once and it was a skip after that. Now, I can't even conceive of skipping GGB.

5150 was just an instantly likeable song for me. Great melody, song structure, vocals and it is a song that had a warm feel about it, but not in a sappy way many here would argue.

    I love Richard Lewis, also.
If you guys love Curb - and it is great - then I urge you to check out Hello Ladies. It only ran for one season and was cancelled but then the ratings picked up after cancellation and so HBO gave it a movie to wrap things up.

It really is hilarious and is full of the cringe-inducing humour - laughing at someone's awkwardness - that made Curb and The Office (UK) so hilarious. It stars Stephen Merchant - co-writer of The Office and scene-stealer of several US films - as a geeky English web designer who thinks he's really cool trying to find love in America.

Episode one is a nice intro but the rest are even better - especially Long Beach. If nothing else, it introduces you (well,, it did me) to some great music.

I apologize for being late, but I can confirm that GGB is indeed the correct answer. Many late night drives, pedal to the floor, blaring it and HoP back to back.. certainly the best back to back adreneline kick.

Another great thing (which may have been mentioned but not reading 14 pages) on GGB is that Mike is actually playing some non tonic bass. Got to play more in his style instead of the dumbed down pedal tones.

Just listened to it and the power from the build up after the solo is awesome. Eddie also was playing that without much gain on the guitar. Nothing like what occurred after 1984. Was on top of his game technique wise

Last great VH song is the chorus of Me Wise Magic. A hint of what could've been with DLR at the helm.
Last great complete VH song is Not Enough.
Not Enough is a fantastic song, the vocal performance, the solo, the arrangement. I especially like the vocal arrangement doting the beginning of the song, the harmonies are so good. It's an example of what could have been had Ed and Sam stayed on the same page-it was written on the RHRN tour and discussed by Ed and Sam in and interview from that tour.

The solo is a masterpiece in itself.

MWM has so many great things going on. Fantastic song. Ed's guitar on that song is just nuts. The drum-guitar interaction is great. Dave is great on that song.

It's a shame MTV didn't play this video, I actually think it's great. The band playing alone on a rooftop is so F'n cool

I'd go with Aftershock as the best song on Balance with Amsterdam in 2nd place.

Aftershock, Seventh Seal, and Take Me Back are my three favorites on that album, as far as the full band with vocals.

I also love the instrumentals Baluchitherium and Doin' Time.

Seventh Seal is a cool track with good lyrics, but it sounds a little too much like Poundcake musically. Take me Back has a strong intro and verses, but I don't like the chorus.

Huh, never really thought about it much, but there are similarities to Poundcake. I also always kind of thought it was a little like if Ed tried to write a tune like the Edge. Some of it has a U2 feel to it to me.

I think I've mentioned this before but the boot I have of that Dutch fan club show they did in 1995 has the Seventh Seal listed as "Poundcake" on the track listing on the sleeve.

So it seems we're not alone in that assessment.
