Talking Outshined - Soundgarden - New And Improved!

So a guy on my original video on YT commented it sounded funny tuned down 1/2 step and I agreed. So I decided to re-record it with the same backing track in standard pitch. I used my Wolfgang because it's the only guitar I keep in standard tuning. It came out MUCH better than I originally did it, I may actually just remove that other one off of YT even thought it has a fair amount of views. This one is light years better, I got the parts much closer to the original and I'm far more happier than I was with that one. Of course I did that one three years ago and I should have taken more time. Anyway take a look and listen and yes stupid faces abound, I had my wife and daughter in the fucking doorway dancing around like dumbasses trying to get me to make stupid faces to them which I did. At least it makes for some laughs. Of course trying to concentrate with these two clowns in the room didn't make it easy.

Awesome. Brett, you are one of the few people that you meet online that you wish you knew in real life. Awesome.

If you put Cornell's voice on that, it wouldn't be any different than what's on the album...you nailed it.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

    Very good job, Boss!
Nice to see your Wolfgang up close, as some of the live clips I've watched were slightly from a distance. No doubt to capture the entire band.

This was cool. Your playing always seems relaxed. I liked your "hamming it up" moments. Nice that your wife and daughter were there to encourage you! Haha

Damn, I always played that in Drop D, I assumed that's how it was recorded. It's still surreal that Chris Cornell is no longer with us. Superunknown was the ultimate summer album in 1994. So many great memories of that summer...

They were so awesome live the 3x I saw them. Just to show how cool Chris was, here Is a vid from a show I was at 4 years ago. There was a nerdy kid next to me with a sign that said "Let me play Spoonman with you". I said dude they will never let you on stage, then this happened:

Sorry if I posted that story before.

    Good job as always Brett....

Outshined is in Drop D. It's not just not down 1/2 step like I like to do everything in. This was one that didn't sound good that way so I redid it. But I am playing it in Drop D, just not Drop C#.

That's a pretty insane story. He did a good job I'd be nervous as hell! The music world is a lesser place without Chris Cornell. Terrible loss.

Dude I haven't played that thing live in like 15 years, those are really old clips. Yes they keep sticking their head in the door, I did have to fix a couple mistakes later you can't notice in the video because I was trying to keep from laughing and fucked up.

I usually only video stuff I can be relaxed playing. Notice I don't have any VH videos, because I really have to work to play those right. I never feel I can do Ed justice even after all these years. I'm gonna probably break down and have to do a VH one on video.

If I lived in LA, I would be going to this.

Chris Cornell Tribute Concert to Feature Foo Fighters, Metallica, Soundgarden

On Wednesday, January 16, 2019, Chris Cornell’s legacy will be honored with a star-studded concert event, “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell,” taking place at The Forum in Los Angeles. Performers will include members of Cornell’s bands Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, plus special performances by Foo Fighters, Metallica and Ryan Adams and more.

Jimmy Kimmel will host the concert, which is “presented by Cornell’s family and closest friends,” according to the announcement.

“We are honored to have all these amazing artists and friends come together to pay tribute to and show their love and appreciation for Chris, his music and the mark he’s left on the world. We look forward to sharing this night with all the fans,” said Vicky Cornell.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday, November 16 at 10AM PST at Ticketmaster.com. Each ticket purchased online for the “I Am The Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell” at The Forum will include a copy of Cornell’s self-titled career retrospective album.

Cornell died in May of 2017 of an apparent suicide.

The host committee includes Vicky Cornell, Tom Morello, Matt Cameron, Brad Pitt, Josh and Kathryn Brolin, Jimmy Kimmel, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Courteney Cox, Kaley Cuoco, David Spade, John Carter Cash, Linda Ramone, Andrea & Paul Joseph, Cynthia Pett, Peter Berg, Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Marc Gurvitz & Julianne Phillips, Ron Laffitte, Michael Rapino, Brent Smith and Lisa Engel, Michele Bernstein, Patrick Whitesell, Scott Sartiano, Michael Cooper, Nicholas Karayiannis, Eric Esrailian, and Paul and Renee Haas.

The evening will benefit the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation (chrisandvickycornellfoundation.org/) as well as The Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (www.ebmrf.org), a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds and awareness for this painful and debilitating genetic disorder, a cause that Cornell cared deeply about and supported through his commitment to helping others.

My wife was considering buying me tickets to this for my birthday, but all my buddies that would go have either moved away or aren't reliable enough for me to spend what a second ticket would cost. The odds of him bailing last minute are too high.

And it will only be a month after our second baby, which means my wife probably couldn't go, and with the therapies for our first born, AND it being a work night...I just don't know that it makes sense to go.

So I kind of told her this morning not to worry about it. I feel bad, but it seems the adult thing to do.
