I like his voice too, as well as the bamd. They aren't diming the gain, scooping the mids, and chugging along. They are using 'songwriting' in the blues/rock vein to make memorable ditties. I've said before that I don't always want pinch harmonics, whammy bar dives, Paganinni picked 64th notes etc. While there's a time and place for everything ( haha), I like a lot of straight ahead rock with a pre-VH shredder type sound.

I can almost predict the rebuttals from some on here....

Thats what I love about them. It's a familiar sound. It's the particular sound that speaks to my heart. As soon as I hear them...it takes me back.

2:31am. I'm a few beers and an over the counter sleeping pill in, and still needing to make a meal before calling it a night...

I like these guys. Same as my love for Jeff Healey etc. You can't go wrong with the blues/rock genre, even if it veers off to folk/country/rockabilly/et. al. at times. Universal stuff...

Greta Van Fleet Plot 2019 World Tour Behind Debut LP

Massive “March of the Peaceful Army” trek includes 12-date North American leg

    Ryan Reed October 10, 2018 11:31AM ET

Greta Van Fleet announced a massive world tour in support of their upcoming debut LP, Anthem of the Peaceful Army. The headlining 2019 trek launches January 29th in Sydney, Australia; after a run of international dates, a North American leg kicks off May 7th in Miami, Florida and wraps June 4th in Madison, Wisconsin.

The hard rock band’s 12 dates for U.S. and Canada go on sale Friday, October 12th at 10 a.m. local time. Full ticket details are available at the quartet’s website. Additional shows for the “March of the Peaceful Army” tour will be announced.

Greta Van Fleet have previewed their first album with three singles: “Lover, Leaver (Taker, Believer),” “When the Curtain Falls” and “Watching Over.” The record follows their pair of 2017 EPs, Black Smoke Rising and From the Fires.

The group is currently deep into a North American tour that wraps October 11th in Madison, Wisconsin. The jaunt continues in late October and early November with concerts in Europe and the U.K.

The Michigan natives recently spoke to Rolling Stone about their passion for classic rock. “Rock & roll to us is liberation,” said singer Josh Kiszka. “A reminder that we as human beings have a voice. But I don’t want people to hear me talking about rock & roll and think I mean the kind of shit they’re putting out now.”

Right. There's nothing rock about rock music these days.

Thanks for bringing the real shit back.

Being that they are all Zeppelin fans, I wonder what Ed/Al/Sammy/Mike think about GVF? Wolf too, for that matter.

Eds been trying to get GVF to replace their bass player with Wolf so he can get him out of the house and find him a full time job with a working band. Afterall he taught Wolf the instrument and all the VH songs just like he taught Mike.

    Haha!

In all serioisness though, I think GVF would be great openers on a VH tour with either Sammy or Dave.

WHOA! The last time they played here it was at The EARL (short for East Atlanta Restaurant and Lounge). That place holds maybe 500. This time through they're playing TWO nights at the Fox! That holds 5,000! If they sell out both shows, they'll be playing to 10,000 people here!

This is why I think the music industry is just as it should be. Back in the `80's GVF might've been lost in the shuffle, getting played at 2 a.m. on Headbanger's Ball and nowhere else, stuck as an opening act for Brittney Fox. These days bands can actually have career progression in a short amount of time.
