First off.... Congrats to the Astros and Dodgers for a great series..... and their fans here at the VHlinks. That was a great season for both teams.

I picked the Dodgers to win this series last week. Really thought they would break through. Astros came up big last night and on several occasions. Really fun series to watch from an outsiders perspective.

The Dodgers and Astros will both be in the playoff mix for the next few years. They are both at the fore-front of the Front Office Analytics movement. Both have young teams and deep farm systems. They also have ownership that will spend on big $$ Free Agents or International Prospects when needed.

The last 3 years really shows you how you can build with prospects and then add free agents to get over the hump. The last 3 WS Champs were big time LOSERS for many years prior to winning it all. Royals, Cubs and Astros. They paid some hard dues for those top draft picks. The PROCESS and Sabermetrics paid off big time.

Also an interesting thought I saw going around if you want some serious OUTSIDE THE BOX Thinking. This is a Game 7 scenario only. All hands on deck.

Stats show that most runs in a game are scored in the first 2 innings.

Start Kenley Jensen and have him go 2 innings.

Kershaw for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th on short rest.

    Morrow in the 7th.

Wood in the 8th and 9th.

Maeda and Watson ready to also face a Batter or 2 if needed.

Insanity? Or did you just win Game 7?

Anything would have been better than what Darvish gave them. On the other hand, the Dodgers only scored one run.

Ok so I was off a game.
I guess Astros just needed a breather in game six?

And some major gifts from the Dodgers' pitchers in games 2 and 5.

Dodgers gave them two games end of story. You just can't do that. And the big boys never really hit the entire series. I mean one game in Houston the Astros had two fucking hits the entire game.

It's a series the Dodgers I'm sure will be kicking themselves about for a long long time. When your best hitter is Joc Pederson you're probably not going to win. Although Joc did play really well.

Joc Pederson was actually the favorite for World Series MVP before last night's game 7. George Springer was 2nd.

The Astros are a damned good team and I give them all the credit in the world for capitalizing on the opportunities they were given. I've been in a funk all day and I probably will be more some time. This one hurt. A lot.

They're a great team very deserving but the Dodgers had them and let it get away. I'm kind of over it already I feel like they can get back there again. I think these are pretty resilient guys and are determined to get it done. I've been ignoring most sports things today I just don't want to hear about the game anymore though.

I agree that the Dodgers have an excellent team that should compete for several years, but it's just so hard to get to the World Series. Only one NL team (the 1975 and 1976 Reds) has ever won back-to-back WS titles since MLB went to divisional play. Baseball is a crazy game.

Hey Kansas City got back after losing it a few years ago and then won it. And the Dodgers are better than they were.

If you mean most games won, well sometimes that bears out, and sometimes not.

I can remember back when the Dallas Stars won whatever trophy they give for the most games won, and then went and got knocked out of the playoffs early. I care nothing for trophys like that, unless it translates into playoff victories..
