Default Axcessories Vs F U Tone

For anyone who wants to share their opinion or thoughts.

I've got a grey veneer EVH Wolf Standard that I've been modding slowly. I took out the tone pot and made it double volume with a switchcraft 3 way toggle. I also put a peavey floyd brass block on it with brass counter sunk washers to make up the difference in the base plate.

I'm currently looking at titanium string locks and brass spring claw. Both FU and Axcessories have them, however there is a large difference in price.

Axcessories: Brass Srping claw w/brass screws : 10.00
Floyd Brand Titanium String Blocks : 25.00

FU - Brass Spring Claw: 20.00
    Brass Screws: 10.00
    Titanium String Blocks: 40.00

That is a large price difference for the same thing. I've never got a poor quality item from Mitchel at Ax.

And Adam at FU has always been stellar.

Any thoughts/ experiences with these particular items?

Sometimes, things are said to be brass, when they are actually brass plated steel.
Solid brass is not magnetic, just a simple magnet test will identify it.
Maybe they can clarify this for you.

IMHO, things are getting a little whacky in Floydom.

Honestly, Adam uses better quality materials than Axcessories...the processes and the alloys that Adam uses are better quality. You might not notice the difference, but there is a difference.

Also, I recommend titanium blocks over brass. They are lighter weight and more resonant than brass.

I don't know man. I'm not sure a Brass spring claw will matter that much to spend the money on it. I know everybody raves about Ti stuff, but the only thing I could see ever being worth the investment for Ti would be saddle blocks, and only because they would be more durable than anything else.

Ti saddles or an entire Ti Floyd may sound better than steel, but I just can't justify the price for it. IMO, a lot of guitar players made a standard OFR sound pretty good before all the Ti stuff. I can just think of about 1000 other things I'd rather spend $700 on before I spent it on a Ti Floyd.

If you want a lighter weight block with more sustain, the titanium blocks are well worth the extra couple of dollars. And if you want the best titanium parts with the best quality, Adam has them.

I think those are every day prices so to speak...I paid the same for my 32mm Ti block.

I know it's nice quality stuff, but that is just stupid expensive for you get. I've bought plenty of brass blocks on eBay for next to nothing and they made an immediate, noticeable difference in my tone. That's good enough for me. The most knowledgeable tone nerd I know works at Fender and comes to all my gigs, and he can't tell when I've swapped something out or which amp I'm using (if I bring two heads). Unless it's something that improves the tone to the point that I never want to play anything else, I can live without it. That said, I'm starting to think the Merren transformers in one of my Marshall builds really do make that kind of difference and are worth paying double what other iron costs.

I'm not talking about the big blocks, or block upgrades. I'm talking about the string block inserts on the saddles. Both FU & Ax have them, but the price difference is insane. I know based on the way my guitar is set up, a brass claw and screws will make a difference in tone.
