Default Could use a little help with Floyd setup (pictures included)

All I use is Ernie Ball Super Slinkys 9-42. I never ever break strings so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I love Ernie Ball bass strings too. They stay real fresh sounding for a very long time. Nice snap to them.

I'll have to give them a go. My LP is set up for heavier strings but my Kramers are set up for 9's. Something about a LP with heavy gauges really works. I really like a 10-13-17-28-38-46.

Try the STHB on a Floyd. Still have those light bends. It the thickness on the low end. Tension balances out

Shorter scale = less tension required to get to pitch. So 10s on a Les Paul can feel comfier than 10s on a 25.5" guitar, depending on trem set up.

The setup is high. I like my action higher than Scott Weiland.

I agree with Brett. I've used Super Slinkys for 15 years. Every now and again I would try something new, but always came back to Ernie Ball. Use them on both my Floyds and non-Floyd guitars.

Yeah...Hell...Go with what you like. The Ernie balls are great strings, and use the same kind of modern alloys and manufacturing standards D'addario does, so tough to go wrong with either. I'm sure there's other brands too that have latched on, and are very good as well.
Any string brand that is reliable, has good stable intonation from set to set, sounds good for extended periods, and has a very low breakage rate.....It really comes down to brand loyalty now. I'm sure I'd be just as happy using Ernie Balls as I am Daddario XL's.

I have a Les Paul copy I recently bought I really like but I do notice with 9's and tuned to Eb the strings are a bit loose honestly. I may switch to 10's.

Fudd, I tried the cobalts and didn't care for them. I didn't think they justified the higher price tag, they were basically the same strings to me.

Good to know. Aren't there some that are stainless or something special besides the cobalt? I thought there was a EB that was their high line strings.

I think the majority of good brand name strings are all decent these days and it all comes down to how they feel for me. I don't like the feel of coated strings on my electric guitars but I use them on my acoustic. I'm using D'Addario NYXLs on my electrics and they're great. Put them on, stretch them up, tune, abuse the shit out of them with the bar, tune again - done. And they seem to stay nice and bright for ages too. Any brand that does that i'm happy with, and i'm sure they all have an equivalent that does.
