Angel Eyes, first track.... Yuck. Haha.
Sorry, but I never liked it - ever. I laugh when VH fans pan a song like Feels So Good, yet froth at the mouth over this Roth Schmaltz. Go figure. Double standard much? Haha.

I do like the Take Your Whiskey Home version here!!! Great riffs and licks. Ed's blazing, and Al has some neat fills.

It's old and unpolished, but hey, they were 'young & wild' back then!

This version of "Whiskey" is really good. Ed is ripping it up!

Gotta agree with that and I'm a Van Halen fan. Probably a good example of how songwriting is a skill as much as a gift. Songwriters get better with practice. That song probably sounded awesome to them as teenagers.

I've heard people say that the song should've been included on VH or VHII...

It would've been the How Many Say I, of its day....

LOL, still love Angel Eyes. But it does sound very much of its time. Typical 70s acoustic tune.

It could have been their, Beth!

David Lee Roth singing Angel Eyes.

Years later, Jeff Healey would cover it!

This is quite a low gen cassette source than what I've heard before.

All the songs are just shy of the band's future greatness.

"Angle Eyes" (and the others) just needs a rewrite to be a nice little classic 70s acoustic ballad.

As someone said... "Take your Whisky Home" is smoking hot... just a bit long.

    Enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

I'm sensing some Sam vs Dave undertones

Angel Eyes. Always had a liking for that tune, especially the acoustic guitar. But, doesn't fit well in the DLR/VH repertoire. Maybe it's best left where it is. On a couple of boots.

Dave recorded angel eyes on his own on acoustic. The band demoed it once, but unfortunately, the cassette recorder wasn't turned on!
