Yeah you hear some things that make you go "huh?" but then something cool will happen and you will forget about it. It is live entertainment with guys who should be getting discounts at Bob Evans
This is true. I always find it funny how often I see comments on youtube for professional dvd clips. It's common to see thing like "Man, they should have filmed the show I was at, it was much better!"

Really? Are you sure it wasn't because you were half drunk, had adrenaline pumping because of the volume and having fun with your friends, screaming the lyrics along with everyone around you to the point where you can barely hear the singer anyway, and having muddy echoey sound obscuring any imperfections in the playing instead of sitting at your desk with a true clinical view of what's going on?

It is possible to still sing like a mother fucker at 70. Case in point:

What the fuck kind of genetics does this guy have? he looks/sounds about 35

To be fair..Hall is an RnB singer. Not as much strain as a hard rocker.

Yeah. There have been exceptions though, Dio and Glenn Hughes at 67 and 65 still sound (or sounded) really great.

Yeah but Journey is played across multiple formats. Not just classic rock. Their greatest hits album was selling 500K copies yearly.

Plus they both get a break after 2 or 3 songs. Not a bad idea for them.

That being said, I still prefer Dave because of the songs. Also, Mike would help out Dave greatly, and I guarantee that Dave knows that.
Like on WIL where he chose to sing the harmony on the chorus instead of the lead. Why not sing the lower lead part? Makes no sense.

    Ok...but it's Journey.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Journey also do double bill tours. Styx, Def Leppard, Reo Speedwagon.

I always wondered what life-events made RJD go from a 50's-60's doo-wop singer to a power-metal dark singer songwriter using satanic imagery.

we know dave is 1000x better when keeping it calm and mellow, avoiding the vocal acrobatics. Women in Love and I'll Wait (usually) were the best in 2015 and showed he can be ok if he just calms the fuck down.

Hagar can still bring it. I've seen it as recently as June.

true Roth is a step below...but still think Sammy has lost quite a bit since even 2015 ---- and a lot of it is equally painful to listen to as DLR. But he sounded good on "Dreams" acoustic the other night after the other rough songs. Keeping it mellow helps both of these old dudes i think.

Sorta odd song to end show with though?!

I think Sammy knows his voice doesn't have the power it once had so he is doing shorter shows with a more mellow vibe saving his voice for the big moments in the show.

So we are quickly closing in on one year of the "Most current VH rumor" so that means something is going to happen from that original list of awesome stuff soon, right?

LOL. Any ol' raggedy bone to chew on.

Once again...YouTube jockeys are never going to get the true acoustics. Ever. Iphone recordings are not going to give anyone an accurate depiction of real time events.

I was there in Devore a few nights ago. Front row. Sam sounded great. Sure, there were some flat notes during WIL, both from him and from the backing vox. It's a difficult song to replicate live, has been since '88. WIL in 2004 was little different. But I'm not defending the Circle. Saying Sammy's pipes are shot is ridiculously stupid. Having BEEN THERE myself, apparently the only Linker in attendance, I know the real deal as it happened and my perceptions aren't shaped by my YouTube account.

The peanut gallery's usual mad scramble to find anything to make 'their guy' look better used to be annoying, now I just find it amusing. Same way I look at children's birthday party favors actually. Pretty hats and kazoos and cupcakes. Cute, but ultimately empty of substance. Even more amusing is noting the efforts to which the same guys who deride Sammy will go to 'prove a point' or pass their disposable time...by not only finding online videos of the guy they can't stand, but watching the 'proof' in full of how much the guy they can't stand sucks. Meanwhile, some folks got to jam to half of Van Halen this week, while some others...didn't. The truth is that easy.

It's far better...and more fulfilling...to be a dual era fan of Van Halen. Just a tad less heartbreak. Not much. But every little bit counts.
