Default Is this the VH song ...

    With Dave's best vocal performance?

    I think so.

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"The past ain't what it used to be"

"Music is like candy. You throw out the rappers"

"Be careful what you wish for because you just might lose what you already have"

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

Certainly one of his best, with some incredible screams. I still think I'd go with either Fools or Romeo Delight for my favorite vocal performance from Dave.

I've always thought Little Dreamer was his best. He really shines on that song.

Absolutely. If there's anyone here who's never heard the isolated vocals on that you'll want to check it out on youtube. So damn cool.

Two of my favorite DLR vocals are Drop Dead Legs and In a Simple Rhyme
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

"I do like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often." -Paul McCartney

Exactly what I was thinking. Here it is. That's great singing in my book. Try singing along and you'll see that it's not that easy to sing.

I think what helped me appreciate Dave the most was trying to sing Little Dreamer for a recording I did. Just replicating his swing and cadence is tough. Also, try singing Light Up the Sky sometime and see if you can pull it off.

Other examples of his vocals might be Ice Cream Man and Big Bad Bill. You can't just step up to a mic and sound like that. Dave is a unique vocalist. That's why it works both ways with Dave and Sammy singing each other's songs....they are so different it just wouldn't work.

Absolutely. DTNA for sure and the other isolated tracks show what a great singer he was... the power, projection, control and timber.

Funny I think many people see those isolated vox as the opposite --- sorta making fun of them or what have you. Well at least the RWTD one which is sorta funny because of the shit Dave's spouting out. But like you say... not many singers can step up to the mic and sing any of this stuff nearly as good and convincing.
