Default What is your all-time favorite live video from Van Halen?

One song only. I have to go with the following from Oakland 1981.

Just flawless. VH at their absolute zenith.
"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"The past ain't what it used to be"

"Music is like candy. You throw out the rappers"

"Be careful what you wish for because you just might lose what you already have"

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

I'd have to go with Unchained, Oakland '81. The very definition of EPIC.

Just plain awesome. They had it all.

What do those 3 videos have in common? Hmmm ...

    I think I'll go with:

Pure energy. (and of course terrible camera work every time Eddie plays a solo as usual)

    One Way to Rock/Summer Nights/5150 - LWAN.
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

I think I gotta agree with you there. The Oakland stuff is great, but if I had to pick just one this would be it.
I don't always listen to hard rock, but when I do, I prefer Van Halen. Stay Frosty my friends.

This to me is Van Halen at their absolute best. I've watched this so many times.

    [B]
    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

This one and the Sao Paulo Brazil version of SGMAD. THAT is what Van Halen was all about to me. Edward and Alex dueling each other and simultaneously trying to one up each other and playing as a cohesive 1-2 knockout blow. I may have to change my answer.

Man that's tough but I think I have to go with Dance The Night Away from '79. Absolutely love the footage of them entering the arena, the "hello....hello....hello...!!!"......... followed by Dave saying "help 'em dance the night away, Al..." Plus of course seeing a '79 live performance. I think the first time I saw it was around '81 or '82 and I'm still so captivated by that video. Seeing those guys at that age, young and hungry, just beginning to headline, all of it. Real early Van Halen stuff (78,79) is still my favorite.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

Have you listened to the "compilation" live shows that VHVillage does on YouTube? - they are fucking out of this world if you like early VH live.

Makes you remember why they were the go to live band at the time. Incendiary is the only word that gives them justice.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!
