Default Anyone ever learn the harmonica solo in The Full Bug?

I know nothing at all about harmonica other than they come in keys. I know The Full Bug is in 440 and the guitar during the harmonica part goes back and forth between E and A (440). My band wants to do this song right, but we need to know which harmonica to buy. Singer says he can learn it, but doesn't know which key he needs and I don't think you can return harmonicas. Anyone?

My grandpa, also a drummer, knew how to play the "mouth harp." Wish I did too, but I was 3 when he died and never had the chance to learn it from him.

Sorry, I guess this post doesn't help you one bit. But I do love the harmonica.

The song is in the key of Emaj. But who knows if Dave is even playing in the right key. It's a whacky harmonica part.

I never did, but my buddy Jonathan was a killer harp player. He had a whole bunch of them in different keys. He played with a lot of blues dudes that used to come through town.
He could play that Full Bug solo bang on.

    AAAAHHHHH...OOOOOOOOOOOOO

It's been a while, but if you're in E natural, then an A harp should get you there.

Kinda like Levee Breaks is in F, use a Bb.

I think Full Bug's chord pattern and riffs are similar to Train, Train by Blackfoot.

IV of the key is correct. It's crossharping, and the IV of E is A. Lot's of blowing and sucking, kept me from being interested beyond acknowledging the aforementioned blues method.

That's badass. I've been wondering for a while if it's the IV or the V. That's only w/blues, that you use the IV of the key. I find that weird, I wonder what the math is on that. And, I gotta try it!

I always loved the harp solo from Motley Crue's version of Smokin' in the Boys Room. Great video, too!

Also can't forget the tasty scenes in the movie Crossroads, ala the Willie Brown character.

Wow...so these are listed as the key of the song followed by the key of the harmonica?

Or, you can just say five half steps up.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Definitely something to keep in handy for future reference...just in case.

Funny, this thread came up the other night, and I thought "It can't be that hard to figure out, let me give it a go." So, I listened to the solo a few times, noodled around and worked out the highlights/majority of the solo, and decided to google a note chart to figure out which harmonica key would work best.

Yeah, so after about 10min of trying to construct the riffing and figure out which notes were "suck" notes and which ones were "blow" notes, I decided I probably do both at anyting other than playing guitar and that I'm not quite as clever as I think I am.
