Default Cool New Boot: "World Vacation Tour 1979"

Every now and then I check out vhboots.com and saw this one today:

    http://www.vhboots.com/worldvacation1979.html

It's like that "Reunion" compilation that came out in the early '00s, but just the best of that tour. I always thought of doing that but I couldn't do it justice due to the lack of technology to make it sound as good as possible. Cool booklet dedicated to VHII/'79 and all. I hope whoever did that does it for every tour.

Well, never mind that since bootleg CDs/videos are harder than ever to find nowadays (outside of Youtube and that complicated torrent bullshit) since they're not in non-chain record stores anymore, there's no more rock 'n' roll expos, and you can't buy them from ads in magazines. There might be some out there in terms of the aforementioned, but it's rare and not the same as the good old days. Youtube's great and all, but...

yup I helped with this release a bit and the 1978 release too. It's a really cool idea putting together the setlist from various cities of the tour and with killer artwork. It's done by a good dude at VHtrading. He is currently working on the 1980 release and has plans to go all the way thru 98 or maybe 2015 even

So, some dude at VHtrading.com can do this, but VH says they can't find any quality old live material to release?

    This fucking band sometimes.

By the way, this is awesome, sorry for the venting, thanks for posting!!

The amount of improvement in DLR's voice from the club boots to the first tour is amazing.

VH should contract him to do that with all their tours. Would be phenomenal.

Absolutely, he's taken great effort with the artwork. Looks amazing. And think these are pretty definitive live records for VH overall -- even though mostly bootleg audio. But trying to take the best or most unique renditions from a tour.

And the 1980 release in the works now is one of the most challenging because 1980 has the least amount of decent-good quality bootlegs of any year probably. But it still should come out pretty great.

I'm new here, but I gotta say, I have a vinyl BL, that I acquired in the early '80s , and have no clue how to share it. It may be from '78 or '79, maybe earlier, IDK, but on it DLR says "this might be our last show here at the Pasadena Civic Center". The somewhat unofficial title of the album is Die Laughing. The intro to SGMAD is similar to the VH Zero version.
The sound quality is fairly decent, with makes me think it was tapped off the mixing board.
The performance is very much VH. It's got the old car horn blaster, and ice cream truck sound effects in the background.

BTW, does it take a while before I'm allowed attachments?

I discovered the bootleg album I have is from 15 Oct 1977 in Pasadena.
I'm working on a way to put it on something digital so I can share it...
...that is when I get the ability to share stuff here!?

I think you have to have a minimum number of posts. Not sure how many that is though...

Well, sure enough, I searched around and found the BL I have, on that dang you tube thing.
And here I thought I had something really special in my old LP collection.

It's from 10-15-77 in Pasadena, but I think it wasn't quite their last show there, because they played there one more time on 12-20-77.
