    Barf.

    Of course, YR is #1

I'd put Goin' Crazy, DG or Paradise before it.

Where is "Big Trouble" and "Ladies nite?"

"Knucklebones" was a nice addition, though.

Show's how dependent upon each other they were. DLR's greatest hits can't make an album as good as anything VH has put out, not even close (VHIII excluded, YFLM alone is better than that turd).
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

I just remember the song (Damn Good?) with the weepy sitar, and Dave talking about
reaching up & grabbing shooting starts....

At that point, i remember thinking: WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THESE GUYS?!

    Bwahaha.

D-Ro doesn't have any 'best' solo songs.

Without Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth is a lost goose. Total wash of a solo career. The EEAS band was as close as he got.

It's theoretically impossible to move onward and upward from a band at CVH's level of genius musical chemistry, and do anything that will compare.

DLR was 100% fucked the minute he exited, and he really should of realized that beforehand...

One of the biggest mistakes in rock music history?

Big Trouble is far and away my fave DLR solo tune. I'd put Elephant Gun 2nd. Knucklebones 3rd, probably. Always loved that riff.

Ladies Night would be 4th. Ah, shit. Maybe 3rd.

I have never liked Damn Good. WAY too sentimental for Dave.

For songs, I like Hina, Black Sand, Damn Good and Perfect Timing.

There's good moments sprinkled here and there otherwise. But I'm a DLR-in-VH fan, and don't really care much for his solo stuff. Too much icing, not enough cake.

pretty much agree with your top. I also throw Hina up there.

and I added Damn Good in there...although I'm like you, a little mixed on it...a little too sentimental/cheesy for DLR, but still a pretty good song overall.

yeah I am mixed on the song... here's a weepy fan video ;-) and it's got a LZ ripoff in there somewhere, doesn't it?

Agreed ... and the same problem VH had going forward.

But I still like the exit in 1985 (**maybe** 1 more album).... the nasty mid/late 80's, nobody escaped it. The only place to go was down. At least the new singer gave VH a 2nd career.

Goin Crazy has always been, and still is, my fav solo Dave tune. But he has a lot of good ones on those first three solo albums.
