MWM is about as overrated as Fair Warning, the Showtime Lakers and the Victoria Secret models.

The chorus of MWM (I think it's the chorus, it's been a while since I listened to it) reminds me of "she's my machine" Maybe that's why the song never clicked for me? I dunno. I do think the band sounds massive on that song though.

That's true and it was a problem.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

    Different strokes.

I probably prefer and would keep CGTSNM over MWM.

music/guitar/riff wise I like it a bit more. More gritty, less polished.

the riffage under the solo is killer, plus the outro off timing jam stuff. Intro is also grade A.

MWM has that big chorus/sunny VH backing vox, sure.

CGTSNM is a very cool song, even if it pretty reminiscent of Secrets.

CGTSNM has an incredible intro by Ed which makes the song a "must listen" for me.

Oh, and I am still not over it.
I was more than devastated. I actually fell into depression, cause they meant so much to me. I spent days staring into space, I was off my game at work. I didn't wanna believe it, and thought it would blow over.
When the news of Dave came around that he'd be on the "Best of..", I thought how did all this happen so quick, then in around November we get the news Cherone was in. It was like VH (the band I once knew so well and loved) is dead. They have never recovered from that fateful day and haven't come close to it. Fact.

I"ve never thought that..but after listening 5x...I can hear some.

seems like the rhythm overall... and how Alex is playing to the music is reminiscent (main intro and verses mostly)

Second, the move really in all reality killed the band. yes, I understand the thought process that if Dave would have rejoined the band in 96 it would have been huge but he didn't. Ed's power plays destroyed the band.

I get that people were thrilled with ADKOT and Tokyo, great...good for you but this stupid move by Ed basically derailed the band for almost 20 years.

    Worst year ever for VH.
Musically, 1996 was a great year for VH. Humans Being is in the top 3 songs from the Hagar era. Me Wise Magic was really good also and provided a lot of excitement for VH fans. CGTSNM and Respect the Wind were interesting from a fan perspective.

I think Ed was pretty mad that Hagar contributed to Unboxed in 1994 against the wishes of Ed and Al. Then Hagar strongly objected to BOV 1 even when he released his own best of album 2 years earlier.

Then Roth stole the show at the '96 VMAs when the presentation to Beck was supposed to be an "ordinary" appearance.

Ed listened to bad guidance from the Manager, which led to major turmoil in the band in late '96.

We didn't find this news out until 10 days later on 6/26/96 though.

Worst day for me. My favorite band has ceased to exist since then other than that shitty 2004 reunion tour.

I hope they can at least make peace with each other.
