Default New Eddie Van Halen interview in Total Guitar Magazine

    https://m.facebook.com/groups/220497...53473702936930

    Cover feature: Eddie Van Halen

We last spoke to him back in issue 9, now, 272 issues on, this month's mag features an exclusive interview - the first in any UK guitar mag for over 10 years - with Eddie Van Halen. We travelled to Eddie's 5150 Studios to talk to him in person about his EVH guitar brand, his pioneering approach to gear, and the groundbreaking techniques that have made him one of the most influential guitar players of all time. As well as our nine-page interview, we've got over 20 lessons showing you how to nail Eddie's famous harmonic, tapping, picking and whammy techniques.

    Good interview!!

For the few and the proud that don't have Facebook, did he say anything or is it just a the same 38 years of rehashed interviews?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Some old stuff, but some new stuff.

Almost all about the EVH gear line.

The new Mexican specials intentionally have the pickup reversed to what Wolfgangs have historically used (now it's the standard down for bridge). Apparently, it wasn't a bad batch that went out like we heard. Maybe Ed's fuzzing the truth, but does it really matter?

My favorite paragraph: When I was with Peavey, guitars would show up in stores or even to me with loose necks or this and that. So I went to Peavey and said, 'Give me a Wolfgang' and I took the whole fucking guitar apart, right there in the board meeting with Hartley Peavey sitting there, the owner of the company. I took the neck off, took the pickups out, took it all apart, then put it back together the way I would. Then I grab the guitar, and I threw it across the fucking room and it hit the ground. I go, 'Go pick it up'. The guy picked it up, and it was perfectly in tune, becasue the strings were stretched properly, the neck was tight, everything was the way it was supposed to be. I looked at them and said, 'Now tell me it's because of shipping! It ain't fucking shipping, you guys just aren't setting them up right!' Attention to detail. It blew their fucking minds.

So like EVH is now a music equipment maker, like Jim Marshall or Leo Fender? He's not a musician anymore? Because he only does cover stories about his equipment nowadays. It's mind blowing to think this guy who was ALL about music is now all about NOT saying a word about music.

As a guy that spent a decade working for an MI retailer, not ONCE did I have a guitar come into the store in tune with the strings stretched.

That's a nice shot of Edward sitiing there with all the guitars around him. They all look beautiful, except that one he's holding. It looks all beat up and shit.

Will read the interview later but maybe he is simply happier tinkering in the garage than going on tour?

Sucks for me but somehow I think I will live

Dudes a natural born hermit who comes out to promote his musical line. In many ways the Smithsonian was that too. But he looks good and I guess you have to give credit to the Betty Ford clinic and the new wife with some Wolfe and Al thrown in.Otherwise he's Prince. I have had my VH fill in my life something is missing since the end of the Balance tour for me. Yeah the brothers are still the best duet in rock music ever but for me something else is missing. Youth maybe idk. Stay healthy Ed.

Not suprised to hear him say he threw a guitar in a meeting and told a lackey to go fetch it. Supposedly he also went onto the factory floor and started throwing maple tops spinning across the floor to damage them so they wouldn't use them. Guess they weren't figured enough. That's when they switched to flame maple. That's what I heard back then anyway.

Thanks Yaminub for posting the article!
VH III is Ed's solo album. So everybody who keeps saying they wish he'd do one needs to stfu and listen to III. Then stfu again.

It's great to see him healthy and happy. My guess is part of that happiness is that he doesn't have to worry about dealing with creative partners, be it Dave or Sammy. The whole process likely just stresses him out.

So, he hawks his gear, does the occasional interview, and puts up with only one person who is not named Van Halen for the tour/cash grab.

It's apparent that while the band cooks, and Dave gets a few moments of musical clarity, EVH is at peace with this arrangement. i doubt they even practice together, except maybe the occasional sound check. They probably did before ADKOT and the Cafe Wha? appearance, but probably not since.

Oh well, better than having Ed off the rails.

I think my Peavey Wolfgang was the only guitar I bought new that was ready to go out-of-the-box.

They sound checked for the Jimmy Kimmel apperance. That makes two sound checks in 10 years LOL.
