    Default Happy 28th Anniversary OU812!!!

His dad worked night shifts and was never home. We would have huge amounts of alcohol, he had 4 weed plants that were over 5 feet tall. And to top it off OU812 was played continuously during these parties. I will always associate OU812 with good times.

As was mentioned previously, it was the end of Ed's classic guitar sound. The bass was too thin but damn they had some great and under rated songs on that one. I think AFU, Sucker in a 3 piece and Source of Infection had some heat with some bad ass guitar riffs in them. To sum it up, it's an easy record to listen to with some great tunes.
OU812 is the first VH album I bought. The rest were "loaned" to me by my older brother. I was 7 when I got it. I'll never forget it because me and my brother went to turtles to get our tapes with a gift coin we got from my aunt and I bought hysteria and he bought OU812. I later bought it when I ran his over with my bike.

    Man, time does fly.

listened to most of it this morning on the way to work. Still love it. I know it gets ragged on a bit but I think it's great. I really, really loved the band at that time. just-to me-they were the coolest guys on the planet.

I just love Mine All Mine, it has everything. Great vocals-lead and backing, great solo and everyone just plays great.

I'm liking Black and Blue more and more as time goes on....lyrics are a bit juvenile but it's still got a great feel to it and the melody is cool as hell.

It was a great time to grow up and for Rock music in general. From the time I was in elementary school and saw Jump on MTV to the time that I graduated high school and Poundcake was playing, Van Halen was the sound track to my youth!

OU812 is 28 years old, damn I'm getting old.

I remember my mom bought me the OU812 cassette, and surprised me with it when I got home from school.
Great day, and I that tape out! Still one of my favorite VH albums.

Black and Blue I instantly fell in love with. I didn't give a shit about the lyrics...I just thought it was such a cool sounding riff, and the whole song has such a slippery, fluid feel.
Cabo Wabo, and Source...Probably tied for me. Source and Sucker my band played quite a bit for fun.
I hated most of the lyrics in SIA3P...They just seemed a bit too contrived or forced somehow, but whatever, but it was fun to play that tune, or parts of it straight up in the middle of something else. It sounded "party" anyway.
I agree Mine All Mine is cool! I was always blown away how the drums worked in that song along with the arpeggiated keys, and the guitar. It's really cool how they made it all work.

OU812 is the nadir of Sammy's smutty lyric "writing". Haven't listened to it in 25 years.

Ed was still wearing those pants in 88/89?

Those things are legend. They need to be in the RRHOF.
