    I know, right!?
This specific album and era was somewhat of a game changer for me, even though I had already been a die hard VH fan since the early 80's.

The above performance ^^^ was a real treat to see. The kickin' new tune, Ed's new guitar and wall of amps, the vibe of the album...
Tight but loose, great playing, great tone, and lots of fun. Awesome!

Arsenio Hall. Was that his nickname? Maybe a play on words/inside joke between them?

I remember watching that live with my roommates who were interested in seeing the band I was crazy about. I mean, they knew some VH but hadn't seen them.

I also remember feeling "meh" after it. Yeah, good performance, just not a huge fan of that song live.

Roth had a quote recently about the tempo of their songs with him, talking about making them dance-able or something. I kind of think he has a point. For a show like that, they needed something the moved faster. A lot of the Sammy catalog has a slower tempo that is fine to listen to, but loses a little something when you want to be fired up.

I know they were just playing their single at that time, but they shoulda played Judgement Day...

No, that's an example of Van Halen being a heavy metal band.

I remember watching that as it happened. I also remember hearing that VH actually played Runaround (off camera) to warm up the crowd before they did Poundcake. It would be interesting to see if there is actual footage of them playing Runaround.

Your intended impact was greatly diminished by your capitalization of VAN HALEN instead of THAT.
