    Default Damn that sounds good!

The boys tearing it up at the Golden West Ballroom in '76.

Sounds good for a boot, at least on my device. Alex's drums are really clear.

If you scroll down there's comments from Elizabeth Wiley about driving down to the venue with Dave.

    I wonder who's posting this?

Would you have been old enough to go in 1976?

    Quite simply, a "Van-tastic" bootleg!!!
I've listened to this one a whole slew of times. Soundboard recording, if I'm not mistaken? Love the entire set and their cover versions kick ass.

Edward's showcase "Eruption" solo has even more insane stuff (at times) than the recorded version - and no tapping!!!
All left hand fluidity/wide stretches/symmetrical patterns/reckless abandon... Killer stuff.

I hadn't heard this one before and I was just struck by how clean it sounded for something recorded in 1976 in a club.

Could you imagine walking into a club in 1976 and hearing that? It like the scene in Back to the Future where Marty goes off at the dance and all the kids are like, "huh?" LOL.

    Totally!
You've never heard this before? Wow. I've owned it for about 16 years! LOL. Seriously, this one has gotten plenty of listening time by me!

I learned their version of The Rover by ear, and love the treatment they gave it. This is the show where they opened for Schenker. Not too hard to see/hear why VH owned it that night...
Eruption? Flat out bad ass playing. I mentioned it about a year ago, in the hopes that some of the more accomplished players on here, could possibly transcribe some of those licks.

I might give this cd a spin later on!

I was only 4 in 1976, even by lax 70's standards that may have been pushing it as far as gaining admittance.

I was surprised too because I think I've heard most of the boots out there on 'em and have a bunch on discs but not this one.

You know, obviously someone was smart enough to record this stuff for audio. But why there's no video of any of it, and even minimal video of the first tour is baffling to me and kind of an irritant. There's video out there of a 12 year old Jimmy Page playing "skiffle" on some British TV show, but none of early Van Halen? No one thought to record this stuff visually? I don't get it.

Criminal.... That's all I can say.

Even Templeman (who thought Edward was one of the greatest musicians he'd ever seen/heard), should've said to someone, anyone, "Capture this performance on camera. There's something special and unique going on here...."

And from a singing perspective too.

This is 1976. I'm obviously biased, but it is shocking to me that it took them another two years to get a record out. I just can't believe that someone could hear them play "I'm The One" live like that and walk away and say, "there's no commercial potential." WTF? Bunch of idiot A/R guys back then I guess...

EDIT: And to those who claim that the stuff on ADKOT wasn't good enough to be put on their albums I disagree 100%. I think "Babe Don't Leave Me Alone" is a great track. Simple with a good groove. Maybe need to re-work the lyrics, but the music is stellar, as is the music to Let's Get Rockin'. Wish Dave would've kept the lyrics to that one the same.
