Default The Best Cover Van Halen Never Did

Thought I'd try something a little different this time. Is there a song that you felt would be the perfect one for Van Halen to cover, but they never did. Please list one from the Dave era and the Sammy era.

Odd, but both of mine are Led Zep tunes.

Dave era: The Immigrant Song. Back in the day, I always thought I'd love to hear Dave's scream interpretation of that song. Totally wanted to hear it for the vocal treatment Dave could give it.

Sammy era: Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid. For me, this was the biggest missed opportunity for a Van Halen cover ever! Sammy's voice would have been perfect for this, and the whole guitar solo in Heartbreaker is just custom-made for Eddie to tear up.

Since Dave Halen were such big Kinks fans, I'd say they shoulda covered another Kinks song. All Day and All of the Night woulda been bitchin' cut with Eddie's tone. Destroyer woulda been great with Dave's growling scat.

Sam Halen should've covered a Zep tune instead of CSLY on Balance. With that production and Ed's tone at the time, I'm thinkin' a cover of Trampled Underfoot or Levee woulda sounded epic.

Yup. They covered it a lot in the club days. A lot of bands did, it was a staple. I meant in studio of course.

For some reason I think it would've been cool for them to cover "Day Tripper" or maybe even "Helter Skelter."

Motley Crue's version of Helter Skelter was pretty cool IMO.
I have my old band on dvd, covering the MC version.

    Lots of fun!

That sounds awesome! Can you post it?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

I agree with the OP, that the Immigrant Song would've been a neat choice for VH w/Dave.
Also always wanted a studio version of Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers....

Sammy era? Another ZZ Top one - Waitin' for the Bus.
Also, after seeing Shinedown do a great acoustic cover of In the Air Tonight, I'd like to see VH do a full band version with Sammy. Keys/synths/guitar solo/Al's drum fill towards the climax/Sammy's range.... Killer!

Sammy era - stranglehold by Ted Nugent with Sammy on second guitar.

Dave era - same but no second guitar playing. Dave can just swing his mic around and shit or whatever.
