Default Van Halen, Live In London, 1978

This had disappeared from YouTube for a while. Great show. You can almost picture Black Sabbath asking themselves backstage, "How on earth are we supposed to follow that?"

Black Sabbath wanted a bar band...and dear God...they got one.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Dear God, listen to how tight they were! THAT is what a band sounds like after playing 25 nights a month for four years straight.

I want an official live album from the first two tours.

That's a good one. One of the best of many.

Lots of cool pics from those Rainbow shows too from Ross Halfin.

No Doubt! In '78 and '79 they were just amazing! Dave, as well.

I have this on CD. Someone sent me a link to the bootleg several years ago.

Yeah, I got this one long ago, as well. Just blew my mind when I heard it.

The best sounding boot of the 70's. How it's not official yet is upsetting.

They've got audio of every tour. They should be doing a vault series like the Stones.

His vox started taking some quality hits around the time of the Invasion tour, unfortunately.

But he's always been hit and miss live. Heck, last summer in San Bernardino he sounded pretty damned good, best I've heard from him since reuniting, though he was good in San Diego in 2007 too.

I don't recall much about the 4x I saw him before the '85 breakup, because I was young and I focused mostly on Eddie. But my crew with me complained a lot about him, esp at the UsFest and '84 tour, but they may have been biased 'cause they were dudes who'd followed 'em in the club days.

I don't think his vox took a hit thru 1983 in quality (84 a little). But often pinned around DD Tour where he got looser with the lyrics and delivery. I think he was strongest 78-81.. Of course he was always pretty loose w the delivery changing things up.

I would love to jump in Doc Brown's DeLorean and go back about 40 years and catch some of those shows from the club days or those legendary backyard parties. Who knew that the band that would eventually become my all-time favorite was cutting their teeth only about a half hour away from where I grew up? Sigh ...
