Default Question About The Song Heavy Metal

Does anyone know who produced the version of the song on the Heavy Metal soundtrack and who played on it - I don't think Keith Olsen produced that version as well and it doesn't sound like his Standing Hampton band.

Anyone have info - I have always wondered and there weren't notes for that sort of thing on the soundtrack.

It's a totally different studio version, and far superior to the one on Standing Hampton. Love it.

I dunno who produced, pretty sure it was still the same guys (could be wrong, I dunno) but it was mixed and boarded differently.

It's one of Sam's best solo tracks by a long shot. But only the soundtrack version.

Totally agree about the soundtrack version. While I listen to Standing Hampton as a whole album, I never pick that version of Heavy Metal when I want to listen to the song.

I think the soundtrack version is on the same level as Van Halen songs from that time.

And of course clearly Sammy Hagar is heavy metal music.

    Clearly.

    Here's the funny part.

Sammy's soundtrack version of Heavy Metal is actually closer to 'heavy metal' than virtually any Van Halen song, with the possible exceptions of On Fire, House of Pain, and Judgment Day.

The whole soundtrack is actually a great compilation. Listen to it all the time.

I just listened to it yesterday actually - great soundtrack.

I think you forgot Fair Warning - Van Halen's Black Sabbath phase.

Far superior. Tone and mix make it a wickedly more heavy track. The bass difference is monumental, too.

I've had Heavy metal on 12 inch vinyl for a lot of years, but never played the song.
I've only played Satisfied and Don't get hooked on side 2.
    I will look into this.
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

    THANK YOU!!!!

    I have wondered this forever.

Why the fuck did he not do an entire album with Baker and that sound.

There's a question to ask the next time Sammy does a fan Q&A.

Now that I have that info - it looks like Baker produced a few songs on the Heavy Metal soundtrack, including Cheap Trick and Riggs.

Back when Soundtrack albums were unique with variety quite often finding out about other acts hadn't heard before.

There's a few more tunes in the movie that weren't on the Soundtrack.

I love the two Riggs songs on the soundtrack, so I figured this band must be amazing.

    No.

The Riggs album that does not have the two songs on it is not that good. I suspect it wasn't produced by Baker either.

Offhand do you know what songs were in the movie, but not on the soundtrack?
