    Default Vaping

I started smoking tobacco when I was 14 and continued for the better part of 30 years. I would quit for a year here and there but always ended up smoking them stinkies again.
Patches, gum, etc; you name it, I tried it, with very limited success.
While in Boston a couple of years ago though a friend of mine who had recently quit smoking tobacco would often offer me a puff off his "blue" disposable ecig. I'd seen a lot of people vaping before and had seen the commercials, but never thought that some vapor thing could for me ever replace smoking. Well, after several weeks of him offering and me declining I finally took a puff on that ecig, and I'll be gosh darned it wasn't bad. Tasted good, in fact, and had the throat hit which I desired from tobacco cigs. I went to the convenience store that day and bought one for myself, and the rest is history. I haven't had a stinky since, and that was nearly two years ago. For me personally vaping has been a real life-saver (probably quite literally).

I know that people are polarized about vaping. Some people are for it (mostly ex-smokers, their families, and their doctors). A lot of people though do not like this vaping thing at all, view vaping as a public health hazard, and even seek to ban it altogether.

Personally, I'm glad there's vaping. For me it beats the heck out of smoking tobacco (on so many levels).

So,what are your views on vaping?

    Any Linkers vape? Whatcha vapin'?

A young co worker vapes. He doesn't smoke cigarettes nor did he ever but it's quite the trendy thing to do, now.

He's got this square vapor that is digital. Says it cost him about $200.

I'm not sure how I feel about vaping in terms of non smokers.

Me too, Chris. Evidence says that vaping is far less hazardous than smoking tobacco, but I still would rather not see the young ones vaping.
Again though, at an age when they're gonna try everything then better vaping than tobacco. Maybe if vaping was around 30 years ago then I'd have vaped too instead of smoking tobacco.

that's the problem with vaping. People think that it is not harmful and it becomes a cool thing for young people.

I think if it is what you need to quit smoking, then go for it,

but you cannot say that it is not harmful....I don't think there have been enough long term safety studies. anything that you suck into your lungs has got to have some effect.

I've Ben smoking for 25 years, I've needed and wanted to quit for a long time. In talking with my doctor, I told him I had greatly reduced my cigarettes, but hadn't been able to kick. He recommended a patch, but that never worked.
So I tried vaping, I went with a nicotine less than cigarettes and have been dwindling down. I don't smoke cigarettes any more. My blood pressure returned to normal and I feel so much better.
I told my doctor that I was vaping and had left cigarettes behind instead of doing the patch. I asked him about health impact of it
He said, there is no evidence of s negative health impact, but it simply hadn't been around long enough to determine that without a doubt. What he did say is that the health impact of cigarettes is far greater than that of vaping and if it keeps me off the cigarettes I should continue until I can get to a zero nicotine level in vaping And then consider dropping that.
I wish I never started with cigarettes, but I can tell you after two months of vaping that my lung function is stronger, my blood pressure greatly dropped to normal range, I'm not irritable, experiencing depression or anxiety.
Best benefit? My car stays clean and I smell a lot better
And with rice Krispy flavored vaping, it's pretty easy to stick with that and not reach for a smoke

I can't imagine vaping isn't bad for you. You're still putting that shit into your lungs.

It's better than cigarettes, and while there is no consensus, a lot of the scare stories have caveats that mean it's not as scary as they want you to think.

Sure, it's better not to do it, but it's much better alternative to smoking, and I know several people who have transitioned to vaping from smoking. So of course we want to outlaw it.

Strip malls that can't find tenants in my area can count on two things: tattoo parlors and vape shops. When I first saw a kiosk at the mall with a guy selling e-cigarettes maybe five years ago, I thought it was the dumbest thing I'd ever seen. Now I wish I'd bought stock. There's a vape shop on every corner.

As a former smoker, I absolutely approve of vaping. You are not burning up your lungs and inhaling tar. You dont smell like burnt shite and are no longer affected by premature aging.
The benefits are too numerous when compared with actually sucking burning tar into your lungs.

I quit smoking on June 2nd, 2015--I had just received a promotion at work and moved to another office area to manage multiple daily operations at the largest aerospace facility in Texas. This gave me the ability to walk outside and smoke whenever I wanted to. So, I would be in a 65 degree office and walk out into 100 degrees to smoke. I got so damn sick. I thought I might die. Doctors said it was a major case of Bronchitis. I had already gone two days of being sick and barely smoking when I finally went to the doctor. Once I began to recover, I bought the Nicoderm 21mg patches. I used them every day for 5 weeks. I then went to the 14mg patches. I stayed on them for 10 days and that was it---I was done with smoking. Even though the stress levels of my job went though the roof with the promotion. I vowed to not smoke and have been successful so far. I don't even think about smoking at all anymore. I did not follow the recommended instructions for the patches. I just went with it as I felt it. No vaping. None of that stuff to spend more money on period. If I can do it--anyone can !!!

My wife and I are former smokers. For about 25-30 years. We tried vaping a few years ago but since I was still doing the hand motions, drawing smoke, etc I would go back to smokes. She finally quit smoking last year but has vaped for over a year. Spends probably an 1/8th of what she was spending on smokes and while its not as healthy as quitting altogether, its still better.

I finally quit for good on Jan 1st.No vapes, no patches, no gum. Just cold turkey and while I may have had about 5-7 smokes since, I know I am done with it being a habit.

Now if I go to Vegas or maybe play a round of golf, I may smoke. However its really on the level of a cigar.

I think vaping is like eating fat free potato chips. While better its still allowing you to indulge in a bad behavior or an event. One needs to break the need to draw smoke or raise your hand to your lips. It is a better alternative but I would still try to elimiante it
