Default "Balance" v. Chickenfoot first album...

I was listening to CF's first album in my car recently turned up pretty loud, and I can't believe just how good it was. The production, everything. I know I've heard it a lot of times over the last 5/6 years, but it hit me on a grand scale the other day.
I remember Sammy once saying he created CF to get the same vibe VH had, and he wanted to make an album that could've followed "Balance".
I love "Balance" of course, but to me, CF beats it quite easy.
I love "Seventh seal", "Feelin'" and "Aftershock", some of Sammys best work with VH, but nothing rocks on it like "Oh yeah", "Future in the past" and "Soap on a rope".
What you guys think?. Am I alone on this?.
Andy Johns nailed it, just like he did on "F.U.C.K" back in '91.
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

I really wanted to like Chickenfoot and listened to it a lot, but I could never get it to click with me. So it's Balance by a mile.

I like CFI better than CFIII, but in my listening, it doesn't even come close to Balance.

Probably why I am on a Van Halen fan site, and not a Satriani one.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I've never heard the CF album in it's entirety, only select songs. I liked what I listened to, yet wasn't blown away.

    Balance, blows me away!!!

"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.

Even if it's not one of their best albums, Balance is still Van Halen. Not even close. Edward blows Satch away, and Alex does the same to Chad.

Agree with all this but I think chad comes close. Unfair comparison to be honest though. Top 3-5 Rock drummer and top 1-2 guitarist of all time is a tall order.

Last night, Soap On A Rope comes on shuffle.

    My GOSH!

It's like I rediscovered CF. Hearing Mike so prominently, was great. Great performance by the four.

Aftershock follows, a couple songs later. I skipped. No lie. I know Balance is revered and I think it's a solid album but Van Hagar, is still the first 3 albums, for me.

Chickenfoot should never be uttered in the same breath as Van Halen.

Not that I hate it but it's too different. The lyrics are more juvenile.

Aftershock shits all over Soap on a Rope, but that's just me. One of my favorite Sam era tunes.

Al is top 1-5 drummer, 1-3 rock.

I agree, it's an unfair comparison for both Chad and Joe. Just like it's unfair to compare CF to VH.

Balance by a long shot. Yes there's a few throw away songs on Balance, but Sam was angry on that album, and that is when he's at his best. 7th seal, Feelin, Aftershock, those are Sam at his best
CF has some good tunes. Sexy little thing has great music, but it's a sex song written by a guy in his 60s filled with cliches and innuendo. Avenida and Oh Yeah are solid, but at least half the album is completely forgettable
