    Angry New DLR Tune

    http://www.vhnd.com/2016/02/24/david...-no-christmas/

After much speculation about the current status of VH, this sure feels like the end with Dave
WTF with this band (if it's what i think)

BTW, it's a damn good tune. Kudos to Dave on that.

The article on VHND you are linking to was created due to a thread on this site. The link to the thread here is even mentioned in the article you just posted.

That's like ESPN reporting something that was broken by Bleacher Report, then going on Bleacher Report to post the ESPN article.

The song (excuse the pun) is damn good.

Whatever, whomever, it is about, it's well written & thought provoking.
Dave sings it in a really vulnerable way, which i like.

He still has a way with words.

Any time you as an artist about the meaning of a song, they will say "it's poetry." What was Dave gonna say: "Yes, it's totally about Edward, it's a vivid description of my time in VH???"

Cool tune, I wonder if it's John 5 on guitar...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

I'm not getting all the love that it's a "cool" song.

That is garbage. I really try with Dave. Tbf, I really liked his version of "Happy".

Maybe not a great song, but a great lyric and it sounds great. I kept imagining Ed & Al kicking in after the second verse. Wish they could get it together. Again. haha.

If it is John 5, maybe this is from the (acoustic wasn't it?) project that got held back?

Actually, Damn Good was off of Skyscraper. LoL!

But actually, the lyrics to both songs are pretty sad, but well done.

Now that I think about it, there does seem to be a parallel between the two songs. Coincidence? I hope so.

I never liked Damn Good, even in '88. I'm really liking Ain't No Christmas. Dave should ride off into the sunset doin' the blues, thang. His voice is made for it.

I think the speculation on this being a farewell love song to VH has something to it...even though DLR debunked it.

Reality is that Dave has been a 'good boy' in not doing side stuff during his VH reunion. Then, all of a sudden we get a new solo tune (with more supposedly coming). Speaks volumes to me.

Also - great tune. Agree w/ Wham Bam that his voice is made for blues songs like this (although - REALLY disagree w/ his POV on Damn Good).

Dave has always snuck his music into the Roth Show. Wether just him singing Love Train or the song about the plastic injection molded chair, which I'm pretty sure is a song he did for the John 5 record. It's not new behavior. Only he's upped the frequency of Roth Show releases. Again, if he was out of VH he'd be telling us in no uncertain terms.

    Default New DLR Tune

I think we're all missing the obvious. DLR is Jewish so of course there's no Christmas for him.

    Cool tune though.
