    Default Ray Luzier Thread

Ray Luzier now with KORN is a very powerful drummer.

This is a really good interview.

Thanks for posting. Personally I love Korn. They have their place and their shows are so full of energy. The first time I saw them in 2002 it was an awesome experience. Everybody in the 15,000 seat arena was into the show, even the security guards.

I saw 'em in 1995 at the Whisky with Deftones.

That is awesome. Deftones are another band I love. That must have been a great show.

As an STP fan, I heard of Luzier through the above Army of Anyone, which is a pretty good album. There is talk of another record, but perhaps with Eric Kretz instead of Luzier.

Anyway, he actually filled in for Kretz with STP after their '08 reunion when Eric's father died. I thought it was a strange mix considering how Eric lays more into the backbeat and Luzier is much more on top of things, and then I remember seeing an interview about it where Ray said it was a totally different gig for him because of that.

I had no idea who he was, but a friend of mine going to a music school knew him and told me how great he was. Then I remember listening to a quote by Robert DeLeo about the song "Goodbye," which was the first single but also a last minute addition to Army of Anyone's debut (Richard wanted another uptempo song). They just told Luzier to let it rip in the fills at the end of the song, starting at the 3:20 mark here:

However, my favorite Army of Anyone song is It Doesn't Seem to Matter:

Deftones are really the only other band I buy new albums from the day they are released (in addition to VH).

Their last 2 albums (Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan) were fantastic, start to finish.

I'm looking forward to the new album Gore.

    Here's the first single:

I remember buying Adrenaline, Around The Fur and White Pony on the first day of release, excited to go to the record store. Was big into them around then (1994-99ish). Diamond Eyes is killer record, maybe their best??!! hmmm

Ray was the absolute highlight during Dave's ( Sam & Dave) show. Loudest drums I recall ever hearing at a gig.

I believe Sam even complimented him during that tour.

Same here as far as CD's I'll buy from an artist. They are one of the few. Koi No Yokan was a fantastic album. White Pony would have to be my second favorite. I already pre-ordered Gore. I'm looking forward to it.
