    Default Government Regulation

For those of you that wonder why government wastes so much money and can't ever seem to get something done, let me just give you one small example.

The Fly America clause of the Buy America Act has guidelines as to what is an allowable travel expense that can be billed to the United States Government by contractors for air travel.

So, just to see how much of a flight you can submit as part of your invoicing, the following is the list of laws and regulations that you have to look through, on top of the law itself:

    Federal Acquisition Regulations
2 C.F.R. 200 Uniform Guidance for Grants and Cooperative Agreements
303 Mandatory Provision for US Recipients
302 Mandatory References and Additional Help
Office of International Aviation Information Blog
US Department of State Open Skies Agreement
GSA Open Skies Information Page for Fly America
    Department of Transportation Air Agreements
Federal Registrar for Comptroller General Notices
    DCAA Guidance
    Federal Travel Regulations
And finally, the regulations, internal policies and internal memo's of the billed federal agency (USAID, FBI, HHS, etc.)

And we wonder why we spend so much money and get nothing done.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

If you fly from DC to Switzerland, after business hours, and there isn't an American carrier available, and you have medical considerations, there might be only ten different laws, regulations and agreements you have to read through before figuring whether or not you can fly coach of business class and how much of your expense is billable to the government.

For one plane ticket. It's asinine.

Completely agree. Figured you knew by now I am a small-l libertarian, so I assumed the sarcasm was clear, haha.

I have tried to explain to liberal friends of mine that the argument is never no regulations, it's smart regulations. And the more you regulate, the higher the chance of unintended consequences.
