Default New email from Greg Renoff re: Van Halen

    "Hi All,

My last email generated a LOT of detailed and impassioned responses about what we'd all like to see from Van Halen in 2016. I know the rumor mill is cranking out the whispers about Roth being out of Van Halen, Sammy being back, and so on.

Honestly, if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on an announcement of shows with the "Eat 'em and Smile" band. But what I'm hearing is that even though Roth, Sheehan and the others are enthusiastic about such a reunion, because of scheduling, such shows couldn't take place before 2017.

But as I have said many times, nothing will surprise me when it comes to Van Halen.

In the coming days, I will have a very cool never-before-seen picture of DLR from the very early daze for you. I won't make you wait long to see it. Promise.

But in the meantime, here's what y'all emailed me regarding the future of Van Halen. Fasten your seatbelts...

    Greg"

Then there's quotes from other fans that he emailed with about what they want from VH in the future.

The big news here to me is no EE&S shows until 2017??

This timeline bodes well with a Hagar era reunion for 2017 as well. Personally I can't see the band doing nothing while both Wolf and Dave are out doing solo gigs.

They should all just tour together. That show would kill. Anyways, thoughts?

    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

I've often said that they should all tour together. Properly, on point, and with enthusiasm. The Van Halen legacy is huge.
To paraphrase a line from Rocky Balboa, they "Cast a big shadow...."

None of this "Dave had swagger" or "Sammy wrote a bad book" bullshit. End it right.

There should be a Van Halen festival. Get everyone and associated acts. CVH and Van Hagar can alternate headlining, also have Wolf doing solo stuff, EEAS, Chickenfoot, Extreme (or whatever Gary is doing these days), maybe bring out Brian May for the odd show or Tremonti.

I think the best chance of a VH-fest would be if Wolf brought all parties together to do it. He's the only person Ed listens to or really cares about playing with at this point.

THIS is why I question would Hagar really return without Mike? If Wolfgang wouldn't step aside for the classic lineup to finally tour together why would he suddenly step aside for Hagar's return?

aside from that congrats to OP for starting the 1000th thread on VH's future..... exciting stuff.

Sam would not return without Mike. He just wouldn't. That's why it's never gonna happen because Ed will only play with Wolf.

Did you just type "never gonna happen" in a post about VH?

Geez. Your account must've been hacked... LOL.

If Wolfgang did offer to step aside for Mike to return with either Dave or Sam fronting the band, would Eddie actually invite Mike back?

If Wolf said "Dad, I'd love to see a reunion with Mike and Dave or Sam" then I think Eddie would invite him back. Especially if Wolf opened the show with his solo band.

Wolf plays bass for the mighty Van Halen and he gets to play with his Dad. If he's as close with his Dad as I am with mine, no way I'm giving that gig up ever

I would not put it past Wolfgang to at least suggest getting Mike back for a few special shows at least while his own band opens for the CVH lineup. Make too much sense. Maybe it already happened and Edward refused.

How can anyone take from the statement that the EEAS band won't do anything until 2017 means Sammy is back in the fold. That is just dilusional. If anything it means Van Halen will either be active in 2016 with Roth or won't be until 2018 with Roth. Sorry to break it to you Sam fans but Sammy isn't coming back. He won't come back without Mike and Ed presumably won't play without Wolf. Sam fans had their reunion in 2004. It's done, over, finished, capute. No matter how much buttload, hotmansauce or whatever he calls himself lately states as fact, it's been done with Sam and it's over.
