im glad that its happening first of all, but
it is definetly very dave planned out.
i think its rediculous for dave to tour without new music. atleast sammy has a recent release....
i love hearing the old tunes but would love to hear new tunes,
slam dunk would be cool to hear live.
but even on the 99 tour dave did not sing it live. atleast not in san diego cali, or scottsdale arizona.
i caught both shows.
just makes sense to release a cd and then tour.
but dave doesnt really care about new songs
he lives off the old tunes.
but i think its worthy to discuss.
(( back up bitch! i missed the order box, move your ass back please , so i can order my food,((well if you would have pulled up to the right place in first place.,. look lady back the fuck up or im gonna cap your ass!! yeah uh ill take a#4 quarter pounder plain with cheese only.!!!! drive thru please !!

If the tour sells out all the shows, would it have mattered if they toured w/o an album? These guys are giving the fans what they want. If VH ever tours again and they do so w/o releasing an album first, I'm sure many of us would be in line buying tix left and right.

It dont matter to me if either of them have a new release. I want to see Van Halen, and this is as close as we are going to get, so enjoy.

I was just thinking how sad, how very sad it is that the VH bros. wont be a part of this. Hopefully Mike will make a "guest" appearance at a few of these shows.

I am very much looking forward to this show !

If VH is in fact dead and Eddie has no plans to do anything with it again, then I think there is a very real chance that MA will participate in at least a few shows.

That's of course if Ed's nice enough to let Michael know VH is over...

Only if it teaches them that playing old tunes together means more $$$ than making new tunes seperately. Tours are fun, but an album lasts forever.

Dave has been using the VH material as a crutch. So given that he hasn't been playing music from his 1998 release, his 1994 release, his 1991 release or his 1988 release, there's no reason to believe he'd play any new songs even if he had any.

I truly wonder what is the logical outcome of Dave's career. The further you get from the main road, the longer the trip back. If Dave didn't have the desire or energy to make that trip anytime after 1998, is yet another VH greatest hits tour going to change his motivations? I think he has to shake up the audience's expectations of him, and another round of the VH show isn't going to do that. He and his audience are too complacent, not wanting to be challenged. Dave used to have the spark and the vision and the energy to change that, does he anymore? Will we find out?

Dave's career is all but over Glenn. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. Is it a shame? Of course it is.

At least he's still touring. I'll take whatever it is that Dave will still give us. It's better than the VH alternative...

I think the primary reason it's over is that Dave has given up on trying. I've always been suspect of the numbers, but I've heard people say that Dave made good money from the DLR Band album because of it being independant. So my question is, why doesn't Dave continue in that direction? Get his organization down to a core group of reliable, intelligent people, get rid of all the dead weight (saving money to pay for the important things, like a decent producer), and continue to put out albums and tour behind them.

I understand that the DLR Band album sold between 50,000 and 100,000 copies; if that's Dave's range of success, I have no problem with that as long as he's putting out quality music that he believes in.

Maybe Dave's version of quality music that he believes in is techno?

Anything =VH= related is already a "nostalgia trip".

Do people go see B.B. King to hear his "new material"?

You know, I really wish these guys would do something more interesting with their careers.

I'm glad a lot of people are stoked about this up-coming tour and are looking forward to some fun, but touring w/o new music is pretty lame in my eyes. Not only will Dave be doing 99% VH, but Sammy will do the usual "55" "One Way to Rock" "Mas Tequila" and a selection from VH. I mean, if I were an artist and could write new music, I would get pretty bored playing the same tunes all the time. Even when Sam and VH were together, I'm sure everyone will admit that the usual ATBL, Panama, Jump stuff got boring too.

It's pretty obvious this is being done for $$. I hardly think Sam and Dave are best buds and want to simply go out and play.

One thing to chew on....if Ed and Al were such greedy bastards, don't you think this Roth reunion would have happened by now?

Dave is content with nostalgia. Sam has a solo career, but is willing to cash in on the nostalgia with Dave.

Ed and Al want ?????????

Mike is caught between a ???????? and a nostalgia trip.

Because you can never get tired of hearing the old stuff...
VHWalkathon - Project 316

EVH: The music is first and foremost. That's the way it's always been and that's the way it will always be. Because without the music, what is there? Nothing. There's nothing without the music. You can't even cop an attitude without the music (laughs).

Not necessarily ! I dont agree with that at all. I think there are a lot of reasons that this has not happened. Personal opinion by 79th !
