the way i look at it ...it's all one big blessing in disguise ! when dave left, and sam left, either solo act, ever came close to vanhalen, and dave had some of best musician's on the planet.sam took a differt approach .the different singers enables the band to grow and not get stale. don't get me wrong i love the dave era..but watch "live without a net ,it hurt the hell out of me when sam left....what i'm trying to say is "what comes around ,goes around " sure we might get to see dave again, and the follow up album might be with sammy......or a killer double cd ,with dave and sam ..........its all for the longevity of the band and for the fans........look out rollingstones vanhalen's coming !!!!

No matter who you're a fan of, there's great music to listen to. Dave leaving in 1985 gave us a chance to hear both Van Halen and some great solo work from DLR. I, for one, am glad it all happened the way it did because those solo recordings of Dave's are amazing. And Sammy's exit made way for Marching to Mars, which is a great album. It's all history now, might as well celebrate it as opposed to wishing it were different.

do you think the stumble of vh3,grabed dave's attention that the band was heading in a different direction...i mean vh is daves baby to.or do you think they needed to put out a album that would fence in dave era and sam era ? maybe it's not really planed.maybe it was vh's solo effort.i'm not knocking vh3 i listen to it alot, it is just a monky wrench in the big picture.

I was bummed when Dave left and also when Sammy quit or was fired ??? When Gary was gone last November I wasn't surprised at all . In a way I wish Sammy never left in 96 and things stayed the same . Everything seems fucked up now , not knowing ect..
